So I posted that last night because I was trying to download the gif but it's reality too. Nothing show stopping but annoying maintenance that needs to be done. Went to install the new Durobumps and realized that every nut inside the LCA besides 1 had it's spot welds snapped off. I thought the nut rode in like a slot but it looks like that's not the case. I got this one off by jamming a pickle fork under the bump to slowly get the bolt out.

[IMG]Untitled by Michael Halat, on Flickr

So the current plan is to pull the coilovers, disconnect the LBJ's and just push the spindle out of the way to drill out the holes and weld a flange nut upside down into each spot. Easiest way to do it aside from completely removing the LCA's which I don't really want to do. Also saw I have slight play in both my LBJ's so I will likely replace those and the OTRE's again. What started as putting on some simple parts now went down the usual worm hole of maintenance catch up.

    :bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:

On the bright side it reminded me of how freaking nice it is to have a capable brand new vehicle in the driveway that I can use for adventures in the meantime.

Fluid film, Krown, whatever your choice is make sure to get that nice new vehicle coated up before the snow flies, never this fresh again over on your side of the country.

How many miles on those lbjs? Oem?

Wonder how long a modern vehicle could put up with the abuse before needing attention.

Yeah OEM and it looks like they were last replaced when I put the ADS shocks on in 2019. Just checked mileage on the truck and I am at 260100 exactly. I estimate in 2019 I was somewhere in the range of 245k because I hit 250k on the way to MA/VT in 2021. So maybe 15k ish? They def don't last as long now that I can go a lot faster

You should consider a set of Solo LCA's

If I was going to spend that kind of money it would be for going towards long travel. TBH I don't need them. I considered going for the TC LBJ's but I don't want to get a set and then eventually replace them with the heim set.

    Fair enough.
Although with replacing the LCA's a couple times, you're prob not far off from the cost of them anyways. It's nice having the peace of mind that my LCA's are going to be the last thing to break in my front suspension

Are we talking LCA's or LBJ's lol The LBJ is what's worn, the LCA I have already beefed up with @eimkeith's gussets so it won't be breaking anytime soon. The bump bolts being busted inside the LCA is an easy enough fix, just takes time more than anything.

Ah ya forgot you had the eimkeith reinforcement stuff.
I will say I've seen a few LCA's get bent backwards at the legs that connect to the frame pivots. But you would have to take quite a hit likely for that to happen

Is the OEM bump in the forward position of the LCA or are you only running the duro bumps on the rear half?

And I love the Stone Brewing sign. Those guys make a mighty fine double IPA. One of my favorites.

Yeah I am running the OEM bump up front and the durobump in the rear. Curtis actually sent me different bumps for up front now too as well as our bumps he has for the rear so I will be having durobumps in both positions now.

Dude Ruination was my go to daily beer. I hate that it was discontinued or only comes in random packs sometimes.

Our front suspensions are very similar. I was trying to figure why you picked up that damage to the bump mounting. I guess it isn't what I thought it was.

My goto from Stone has been their Enjoy By for a number of years. They make it 3-4 times a year. I like the expire date as part of the name. Ruination is another from them that I like. Only see it once, maybe twice a year though. Have you seen Ruin10. Based on Ruination but it is a triple. At 10% it is amazingly smooth and dangerous. Again, only seen it once this year.

Ah word, yeah I think it may have just been abuse/age. I was one of his first batches ever made and I know he did alter the formula sometime after the original batch.

And dude Ruin10 is a banger. Like you said dangerously good ha.
