Winch Drum Scratches & Synthetic Line

So Warn is selling out their stock of some Evo winches with steel cable. I bought one with the intention of swapping the line to synthetic.

I pulled the steel line off and I saw some scratches that I can feel on the drum. How smooth should the drum be for a synthetic line? I can't feel any burrs but I can feel the scratches. I thought I could hand sand the scratches but they are too deep to completely remove them.

In addition, due to faulty wireless remotes, they included only the wired remote but there is another coupon for $100 off products on the Warn website.

 

That wouldn't bother me at all with a synthetic line.

 

Yeah, if you plan on using the winch less than 8000 times, Those scratches are literally nothing to worry about.

 

how about an epoxy fill of some sort ?
