    Hello group!

I have a 2000 Tacoma baseline model with original headlights. They do not illuminate the road well and I often resort to keeping my brights on at all times. I would like to explore options on the easiest fix. Would anyone comment on if bulb change would suffice? Or would it be best to upgrade to LED? If there is an option that requires less work/energy/time that would be preferred. thanks!

Don't go LED, you'll blind oncoming drivers. I enjoy using my forward facing light bar on idiots with LED/HID.

What about installing new headlight housing?

    Thanks for the response 02hilux,

Would housing increase the wattage to the headlight bulbs? Do you think the current issue resides in the bulbs being too old? Could I just upgrade the bulbs without replacing the housing? thanks

I would first check the headlight aim.

If the headlights are significantly faded (yellowed) then new stock lights will make a big difference.

Everything you want to know about headlights by an incredibly knowledgeable resource @crashnburn80 : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/

    In summary:

    Buy new OEM headlight housings.
Upgrade the wiring harness (see thread) and use whatever bulb crashnburn 80 recommends.
If not upgrading the wiring harness buy whatever regular bulb crashnburn80 recommends in the thread.

Can anyone tell me how much a new OEM, non-LED, non-sequential turn w/DRL cost for a 2022 TRW-Sport? I'm talking the whole assembly including the outside lense?
Something is strange about the parts online. I can't enter my VIN anymore to have it qualify the part is compatible? Anyway, there seem to be a few variants of headlamps.

you can always get a kit and redo the front of the lenses to remove the dingy yellowed film. Then spray some clear coat on the lenses. Or just buy some new headlights from you favorite parts store and install some new bulbs if they don't come included.

I tried many kits over the years, and have experience buffing paint and other items out. No matter what product or protective coating, the lens oxidize again. Further, the lens' just break down over time and defuse the light even after a fresh sand/polish/protective coating. At 20+ years old that plastic just needs to be replaced. The TYC certified housing on rock auto are a great alternative to the OEM product. Just those new housings and bulbs will make a huge difference without the wiring kit and fancy bulbs.
