IMG_3795.jpg IMG_3796.jpg My baby Taco reg cab, 5 Lug 2Whl, base model, has noisy rear wheel bearings. Over 70 MPH is hard to listen to! I’ve tried to get some local shops to quote the job to replace the bearings, and so far get the message they’d rather pass on the job. It’s been years now, not working so have the time and I’ve got to deal with it! I did find some YouTubes on the process (always 6 lug trucks) and at least they showed the special press tool recommended for the job. (Going to find and post that photo) Does the process change if doing the 5 lug axels? Any advice or comments from experience appreciated!

It's the same process. Below is a link for a DIY by @6 gearT444E .
It's for a 6-Lug truck, but the process is the same.

Thanks! I will check it out!

LATER>>> WOW! That is quite a job! Excellent write up and photos, exactly what I need. Also interesting to read that others seem to have the bearing(s) fail with higher mileage.Maybe it will be obvious while doing the job, but was curious if a failed bearing will allow contamination to reach the Ring/Pinion and Diff. Hope not!
