I just pulled my front diff when I did my regear, and now have an extra.

Any market listing it here (TW) to be used as a core/etc for y'all doing this mod?

Front/rear LSD but still 4x4 sounds ideal to avoid worse MPG running full time AWD; parasitic losses having to unnecessarily spin more heavy metal

I wonder where this guy got the front torsen he claims to have,
and why under Front Diff ECGS only lists ARB and Elocker...
which seem less reliable and more work

not sure if ECGS doesn’t know about it, or has a shop policy to only install front ARB and Elocker that’s been out for a while, warranties, experience installing them, etc

Looks like Speedmasters and Yukon sell a front LSD (said to be the same unit) that I’m guessing is what this guy has
Trying to figure out if there’s any others on the market
I imagine only certain FR-S had LSD, resulting in higher price for it

I’m hoping above video 2.7L (stock 4.10) is also common 8” front clam suggesting compatibility in other 2nd gens like the common 4x4 4.0L V6 most people have
It probably is given that buying the stock 4.10’s from those to fit is a thing.

JustDifferentials lists the Yukon 8” LSD as 2 year warranty, and doesn’t say anything about fitment restrictions on gear ratio (trying to go 4.88)

    still got it?

Ecgs used to offer a version of that torsen lsd in the front diff, I believe they're not currently offered due to supply issues.

    Yes, supply issues.

I'm #2 on the list, when they get a shipment.

I believe the torsen is also incompatible with 5.29 gears, but I may be misremembering that detail.

it did say that. But otherwise said compatible with shorter than 3.73 IIRC including ‘ Thick’ so I assume 4.88
And the YouTube video where guy vaguely states he got “a torsen” without any details (maybe it’s the same one) also went from 4.10 to 4.88

    well that sucks
Maybe FRS LSD is faster to obtain

I have to check if ECGS does REM polishing
Revolution does but you buy your own gears
500 mile breakin unpolished sounds like a PITA especially on a front 4x4 diff

starts turning into mix and matching parts from here and there
It would not be fun to pay day one for a front LSD to find out there’s supply issue and not be able to actually get anything for 6mo…
Vs getting all the parts in hand first, then having it built/assembled

Gonna bump this thread and see if the collective wisdom can answer some questions:

-What parent company built this diff for the application? Is it in fact Eaton? I'm just curious, really.

-Looks like it was used on a wide variety of applications. FR-S/BRZ/GR86 but does anyone have a list of the Lexus and other Toyota (possibly even Subaru) models it was used on?

-Can anyone suggest gear shops in the PNW that might be willing to machine the carrier to accept the bigger bolts and are competent for a re-gear of my rear end while I'm at it?

    Thanks!

Probably already been discussed, so apologies if has.

Which bearings do we need to put this in, the FR-S or the Tacoma/FJ?

    Carrier Bearings
    90366-53004 ID 53mm OD 83mm Width 24mm (Tacoma/FJ)
    90366-50001 ID 50mm OD 83mm Width 24mm (86/FR-S)
