please advise on bumper harness 2017 tacoma

you guys have discussed this many times I am sure, but, I am the new kid on the block. I have a 2017 tacoma sr5 without a trailer connector. truck came with plastic plug instead of trailer connector. is there a factory harness that goes to the std 4/7 bumper connector? I only need a 4 pin connection.

 

I think so yes. Trucks that come without bed lights even have cables and just need to be connected. Pretty sure there is wiring somewhere it there, you just need to install the connector.

You will need an aftermarket harness. Trucks with no factory tow package don’t have a simple tow hookup back there. The trucks for towing get a different rear truck harness than non towing trucks.

 

I have V6 SR5 and it came with it? I guess his is just SR? All V6s come with it

 

It'll be easier to have an aftermarket harness installed. I would go that route.

 

I thought so too. I've gotten argued down on this before, some people say there are a few early year 3rd gens that did not automatically come with the tow package.

 

There are 4 cylinder SR5s.

 

You could have this purchased/assembled and installed by yourself:

Z2 mates to a hidden connector behind the driver's side kick panel. Routed by the sill then under driver's seat. Along the the frame to the rear bumper. T12 mates to the missing tow connector. This you must purchase also. Only circuit missing is tow battery charging. (on T12)

 

well, I bow to your wisdom. I see the difficulty. I see the parts. yes, it is a 4 cyl w/o a tow package. did not understand at first.
