Is it from something that was sprayed onto the alignment tabs to loosen them?

Clean it off ,see if it comes back. Maybe you'll be able to tell if it power steering fluid.

@908tacoma Unfortunately the rubber bushing on the arm, and nut / subframe area look dry to me. Better wipe it off and watch it for the next 100 miles or so. Also check your power steering fluid. It may be low, or getting low soon.

this is the driver side. Does that make a difference ?

just had new bushings installed in LCA and UCA. I’ll check the power steering fluid. Thanks

You honestly think it’s that bad? Truck sees some winter elements, but most rust seems surface only ?

Typical rack and pinion leak. Your reservoir is likely low.

I'd leave it until it gets worse, they suck to do.

They can leak on brand new models, its just a 2005-2023 problem. Bigger tires and cold temps sometimes make it more likely. I've changed many under warranty and out of warranty.

    Power steering reservoir.

thanks for your help. As a tech is it a long labor/costly fix? Gonna flush out the old fluid tomorrow and refill. Hope their isn’t a leak somewhere. What fluid do you recommend?

Driver side? I saw someone here mentioned that if you drip some oil filling the engine it will end up on the rack boot?
Not saying from experience but it seems more times than not the driver side boot has oil on it so it makes sense. I’m due for an oil change so I’ll spill some oil and test the theory :anonymous:

Driver side, and did just have the oil done by my mechanic since I was away for work. So power steering reservoir is low when cold but gets to normal levels when hot. No loose feel when steering and it kind of does seem like a dried wd40 type of fluid? Cleaned for now I’ll keep an eye on things thanks everyone

As others have suggested, clean and monitor for the next few hundred miles. Noticed leaking on my drivers side boot. Cleaned and checked a few hundred miles later and both were weeping. Leaking rack so they replaced everything under my extended warranty. 40,000 miles on mine so it can happen.
