    Hey folks,
Great thread. I just picked up a used tonneau and it has *almost* all the hardware (missing one striker and a couple of bolts).
I have a question I did not see on this thread... I have a 2005 Tacoma and I do not seem to have this part as factory installed whereas the later models seem to:

My truck has a rail below the lip on the inside of the bed that matches the side rails where you would put a factory cleat with a T-nut. It seems the later models deleted the slider rail and replaced it with this.

Does this rail exist as a separate part number?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Barrister,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that is the part I already have. What I am looking for is the "Top Rail" that is above that header rail. That top rail fills the gap between the top of the bed and the tonneau cover which is in plane with the rail caps running down the sides of the bed.

Trying to show here, between the two yellow lines:

    Thanks

It appears the part number is 65409-04010.
Used it is $100! (junk yard) Or $235.11 from the dealer with the MSRP of $359.27!!!! Whaaaaat?

I think I will make my own a that price--all I need it for is to fill the gap.

If you have a 2005 it might be better to ask the question in the 2nd gen forum.

Very true Budsdad--however this is the tonneau cover thread that I ran into from the web and the 3rd gen comes with the part from the factory--so thought someone would know the part number.
Sorry to disturb the 3rd-gen folks (honestly did not even notice I was in the 'wrong' forum tree).
    Thanks.

Just sold my '05 Taco for a '23...kinda feeling like a sellout , but the tech is nice and I'm psyched to have a 6’ bed! Decided it's time for a cap, and wondering the logistics of selling the OEM Tonneau. Considering it's a $650 line item (and these days you get what you get for options), I'd like to sell it. Are they marketable without the rails? The cap place suggested I could sell it to someone with an older model & we could switch rails.

You should demand that any buyer surrender their rail caps to you, in return for yours. It is actually a “win-win” because the buyer needs the rail caps with the cutouts or will have to manually cut out his own. The rail caps are easily switched in 2 minutes.

Good point, Barrister, I wasn't even thinking of the rail caps as well. I'll have to see what year they started adding the Tonneau rails and seek a buyer from before that...and hope their rail caps don't look like my old ones :)

Does anyone know the size and thread to the 64949-04010 bolts? would rather buy aftermarket than spend the extra on these
