if its still dirty after this, use warm water at your house. try to avoid steam cleaning.

Turtle Wax CD-2 (Engine Detailer). I don't use anything Turtle Wax, but that stuff works amazing...

I wouldn't use a pressure washer under the hood as suggested before. That is just asking for problems...

I don't think you would have a problem with a garden hose, but the pressure washers just have too much force for under the hood...

I do it all the time, no problems. I don't put nozzle right up against anything but if you don't feel comfortable with that I would suggest a good cleaner and a garden hose.

Another vote for the car wash.....just don't put the hose right next to the engine and you'll be fine.

I wouldn't recommend a pressure washer, don't know if there is any harm to be done, but it seems like a lot of pressure and risk for something to wrong?

Check out the detailing section. Many people have used the pressure wand at the car wash without any issues; including myself. I've washed off my engine over a dozen times; I probably do so 3 times a year. The thing is you stand back from the engine bay a few feet and you'll be fine; let the misting water do the work as opposed to point blank rinsing off the engine and bay.. A lot of people are concerned with the term pressure washer when in reality the water coming out is misting rather than blasting. If you ever use the do it yourself car wash try rinsing your hand off with the "rinse" setting the pressure isn't that high.

I would lie if I said I haven't done it (on another truck), and never had any problems other than tearing the sound dampening foam on the underside of the hood. Just wih my baby now I don't like to take any chances, a good old hand scrub for me on the engine. Like I said, I know of no actual problems related to it, just the possibility of something happen.

I use the pressure washer/steamer at work probably every other month. When I gets dirty I spray it down. I'm kinda cautious bout usin sprays and degreasers on my engine. Some of em will take the coating off aluminum and actually start to eat away at the metal. I've seen a couple people make bad mistakes and spray their new aluminum wheels with an engine cleaner/degreaser then spray em off n they're ruined.

Well the good thing is there is no sound deadener on the hood of our trucks to wash off. As long as you remember to check your oil dip stick and all the caps to your fluids you'll be fine. As for the possibility of something happening, that can be said about anything you do in regards to anything. Relieve your fears, you'll be fine rinsing your engine off of at the Car Wash.
