    No. This allows you to turn them off during the day.

    Several model year second gens suffered from melting headlights. As I understand it, people complained of early bulb failure so Toyota replaced the 35W bulb with a 55W bulb (IIRC) without doing any testing on the headlight housing. The newer higher wattage bulb burned hotter and the plastic in the headlight couldn't handle the heat. By disabling the DTRL, you stop the heat source and save your headlights.

    No.
    DTRL OFF after headlights ON is OEM.

    @jboudreaux1965 But if you really want them ON with the headlights:

    Add a Single Pole Double Throw Switch...with independent switch illumination tied to dash illumination circuit.
