I also keep a bow saw from https://agawagear.com/ in my vehicle. Collapses down into a sweet little package. They also have a preorder axe that collapses down into a small package that looks promising.

The Fiskars X25 serves me well when splitting.

A college buddy had this thing Chopper1 Axe (Complete) — CHOPPER 1 AXE for splitting. His was the only one I've ever seen, and I had to spend a few Googling what it was. It's been decades since I've used one, but I remember thinking this is nice. It split from the side, ends, twisties and never buried the head. I wonder if anyone else has ever used or seen a Chopper.

I own a bow saw, but it doesn't get much use since I bought a Milwaukee M12 Hatchet which makes easy work of chunking up limbs for the fire pit. Almost too easy so I often hide it when the booze starts flowing because I'm afraid someone's going to lose a finger. The cordless saws are pretty sweet. I've used a relative's Dewalt chainsaw and the Milwaukee one is on my short list of tools to buy.

Here's a few gratuitous photos of my truck at work.

It's not super sexy, but I've had great luck with a Fiskar's Axe.

    For a saw, if budget isn't a constraint, grab a Silky. https://silkysaws.com/

Agree that a saw is best for cutting, with an axe being idea for splitting.

Sven saw is great for cross cuts. I keep one underneath the back seats, and other hanging in my mudroom.

for an axes, I have a couple of vintage 24" (plumb/collins/kelly) that I cycle between depending on mood.

I got a saw first, axe later. Cutting wood is safer with a saw than chopping, my opinion. Chopping is for splitting firewood.
