your criticism is valid, but misplaced. Amazon has pivoted to being primarily an online marketplace and fulfillment company. the issues really are more to do with enabling general consumerism and ease of access than it is any singular player.

but i'm starting to seriously consider canceling my prime subscription, as they keep hiking the rates, and with the big push for ad's everywhere on it, it's really costing too much for something that's partly or wholly ad-supported at this point. just like why i never had cable tv growing up-- no reason to pay money for something that then still has ad's...

this is something that i absolutely love about the new online consumerism. almost everything has a direct-to-consumer channel, or a middleman breaking down minimum quantities and reselling individual items.

it used to be that supply chain stuff like pressure switches were $140 from obscure and questionable places, or only alibaba would offer them with a 2,000-piece minimum order.

but you're absolutely right, most people won't go through the hassle. many people look at me weird for pulling stuff out of the garbage on trash days and repairing it. i've got tons of stuff that was thrown away that only needed a $10 part and some time to install it. i've given away 4 garbage-free snow blowers over the past few years now that were exactly this. $30 in a new carb, some fuel line, and a spark plug, and it runs like new.

Have a few friends that grew up in the LA area that looking to move here. We came from Tucson, I am going to make pozole and tamales for the holiday, beyond over traditional T-Day fixings.

This particular pressure switch was $17.99 and yes I got it from Big A. lol

We're problem very similar mindsets. I fix things mainly because I have the ability and I like to tinker. My Skil 7 1/4" cordless saw is ripped apart on the work bench right now. It stopped working and was out of warranty so Skil wouldn't do shit. Shocking. lol

The switch is fine. The motor runs fine when jumped direct to the battery pack. So that leaves the "safety features" as the culprit. One is the electric e-brake and the other is the thermal overload protection. I like the e-brake as a safety feature so the plan is to figure out the resistance on the overload circuit and jump the wires with a matching resistor. Only real problem is I can't find the needed electrical diagram to verify anything first. Shocking. lol

I’m pretty sure it’s not true hahaha. Just simple Google searching it, it’s “difficult” but no regulation against it.

Amazon might have enough $$ and political pull to try and fight those laws if they wanted.

Amazon might provide more jobs and tax $ than car dealerships do in some states.

I don't know if it matters but it wasn't at fox news. She isn't/wasn't a pilot as a hobby. She was a cinema pilot. Looks like her biggest gig was for the movie Dunkirk. She also won an Emmy. All I'm saying is that although she looks like a bimbo, she has done some things that take some skill.

try doing an image search for exploded views. that's usually how i determine power tool component orientation and location. i would think there'd be similar results for skil saws.

i've typically seen the thermal overload in saws like that go bad from the startup power draw.

for instance, this is "milwaukee 2606-22 exploded view"

This exactly. It’s easier for those who prefer to not negotiate. I have an intimate knowledge of the structure of a car deal so I know what’s realistic and what’s bullshit.

Lots of libraries now have 3D printers that members can use, esp. at universities and colleges. You can probably also find reasonable rates at a local "maker" group, and many local quick print shops also do 3D.
