    Maybe I messed up.
a friend was selling his 2021 tacoma and we swapped wheels and tires.
I liked his wheels better and he liked mine.
They are both 2021 tacoma's but mine is a trd off road with push button start and his is a sr5 4wd with a key start.
Of course the tpms sensors were not functioning and I took my truck to discount tire to get reset.
It cleared the warning light but didnt list tire pressures.
I've done some research but I'm not savvy enough to see if there is a difference in the sensors or whether there was a problem when discount tire used their device to reset it.

Anybody know if the sensors are different? I assumed toyota wouldnt make several versions of sensors for the same model tacoma's
my remote start doesnt seem to be working either. Possible that these are related?

You have to press the reset button, then drive it to speed greater than like 40 mile an hour for like 20 minutes. It’s in the manual

Take a picture of your knee bolster on the drivers side. Right next to the hood release.

The 21 OR I was driving before I bought my 23 had the button.

I’ve never heard of an off-road model, not having the button, but, OK whatever. Your next step is to go to the dealer or tire store and have the TMS programmed

    Yes, thanks for the reply
I did go to discount tire and had it programmed.
The thing I dont know now if there was a programming problem or if the sensors are different.

There are two different sensors/packages Toyota used. Location/pressure specific and just inflated/deflated general warning light. You would need to either replace the sensors, manually check the pressures in the tires, or find out why Toyota didn't put a relearn button on your truck as it should have come from the factory with it...have them install it...and then press it.

Is it possible that this switch disabled the remote start with the key fob?

I wouldn’t think so. I’ve remote started my truck with 12psi in the tires so at least low pressure doesn’t stop that.

The 3Rd Gen Tacoma can only see, store, and read four sensor ID #s. You need to have your truck reprogrammed for the new four sensor ID#s from the “new wheels” you installed.
Your truck has your old sensor ID#s stored in the PCM\ECU and cannot recognize any other sensor ID#s.

Pressing the TPMS button, follow your OW instructions, by your left knee is for the truck to see the new location of the four wheels when rotated or new pressures when the temps change.

He already said he got the truck reprogrammed at discount tire.
And the button is not to update the pressures. The pressures are updated real time. The button is for relearning sensor location after tire rotation and when going to bigger tires only. Per the manual.

That’s for the SR sensors. Not the sensors the OP has.
