I adjusted my fox 2.0 coilovers, and put one inch of preload on them. Everytime I even step out of my truck the front suspension squeaks and makes horrible noises. Any idea if this is normal?

An inch total of preload or an inch more?

Did you measure your down travel afterwards?

    Maybe post pics.

    People will need more info.

Do both sides in the front squeak?

These are just questions off the top of my head.

Thats not preload. So you added an inch of preload on top of what was out of the box? Likely far too much preload and good chance its topping out almost instantly. I would suggest taking a few minutes to review the link I sent you. May not be the cause of your noises, but certainly not helping.

I’ve never backed my collar all the way off, but I suspect that the preloading doesn’t start at the very top and obviously not on the first thread. I would think a coilover would be designed such that at least all threads on the collar would be engaged before the spring starts to compress.

I suggest you follow the instructions in the accutune article and/or measure how much down travel you currently have.

In any case, I can’t think of any reason too much preload would be causing a squeak.

Do the fox’s have a lock screw on the collar. If so, did you perhaps forget to tighten it such that it is alone the collar to move? I’m just throwing wild guesses out.

Interesting, thanks for that! I believe I have too many threads showing then. I'll measure it tomorrow based off your diagram

You're welcome. I think its a good start to solve your problem, but also help with ride quality. I know its appealing to want to lift these as much as you want, but ultimately the shock and front geometry were not designed for it. Hope it works out for ya
