Good morning everyone. Long time member but have been mia for a while. I am looking to trade in my 13’ for a 23’. I’m looking at getting a base 4x4 for purchase, not lease. If I intend to lift and upgrade suspension and change out wheels and tires, is there any downfalls to getting a base other than interior options? TIA

If you're upgrading all that stuff anyways then it only makes sense. Yes, the locker in the OR and Pro's are nice, they aren't really needed.

In my opinion; if you are replacing things like suspension, wheel/tires, etc,,, buying a base SR makes sense, as that stuff has little to zero resale,, and of course factory upgrades come at premium.
If you are buying a base SR to save money (we all get it) with the intent to later upgrade tech, outside of a stereo, then I wouldn't bother. I know can and is done every day,, but later going in and trying to reinvest the around the finicky electrical system isn't for me.

The power adjustable drivers seat may be a consideration if seating position is important to you. I believe it's in the SR5 trim and up.

Go SR5 and get the 8 inch head unit, power drivers seat, better wheels.
At worst trade-in or resell value will be better.

Depends on the price difference .i personally would spend the extra cash to get some more options out of the truck . It will have a better resale value down the line and u won’t be thinking about should I have gotten the higher tier .

I would skip the base SR 4 Banger if you are planning on a lift and bigger tires.

Other than the lack of torque in the I4 you will be fine upgrading shocks, springs, wheels, and tires. All the trims are basically the same truck.

SR5 is the best starting point. That's what I was going to start with. I didn't need or want an OR with the Crawl Control and pay the repair bill if it broke, no need for a locker that is used in 4wd only. I wanted the SR5 till the wife suggested the Sport, man that scoop drops the panties! You can always add the locker if you really need one.
