    Hello all,
I am new to the tacoma forums. I used to have a little '98 4 cylinder taco but had sold it a few years ago and am looking for a clean 2nd gen TRD off road 4x4. If anybody can steer me in the right direction on best year please let me know. From my research 2011-2015 is a safe bet but any input is appreciated. Have always got white cars in the past but the super white peeling issue scares me. Worth taking a chance if the truck has not peeled yet?

Glad to join the club. I was considering a newer F-150 but I think a smaller truck fits myself better given that I don't tow and these perform off road much better. They also obviously have a lot more aftermarket support. My other car is a 2008 Nissan 350z Nismo and even though I am in California it would be nice to have something more practical.

I would like to stick to 2nd gen as I do not need all the high tech of a 3rd gen, and I prefer the front end overall. So if anybody knows somebody selling a TRD off road 4x4 11-15 (any color as long as its in great condition) let me know! Must be in western U.S.

    Ryan

Welcome to the forums. If looking for a 2nd gen avoid 05-06 years. 2nd gens got a face lift in 2012. I reccomend looking for a 12-15 if within budget. Cannot stress enough to inspect the frame on whatever you decide to go look at. Good luck on your search!

    09-11 are great trucks.
    13-15 are probably the best.
Skip the 2012, it can have SAIS issues. not a huge deal. but its a PITA.

If you like simple, no frills, and don't need all the bells and whistles.
The 07-09 are good trucks. But they don't have a limited slip differential. So they suck in 2WD. ( I know, I own one)
But they there isn't much to go wrong since they don't have the exrtras.

Forgot all about the secondary air injection issues. What's wrong with limp mode?

There is a 2015 Off Road near me with 80K miles listed for $30K (Im in Bay Area Northern California)
Thoughts on the price? Also found a 2011 w/ 70K Off Road as well for $27K
But I like the more sleek design of the 12-15 grille for sure

    Both 4WD

These trucks don't make much power to begin with, let alone in limp mode.

It blows my mind that that's the market value today. In my opinion I'd never drop that kind of coin on a used toyota. Yeah my trucks not perfect but if I were to sell it today, I'd list it for $13k. Has 123k miles. I'd put whatever trucks you wanna look at into kbb and use that to guage prices. Truck is worth whatever you're willing to pay

I haven't kept up with prices.
But I'd pay $3k more for the 15'.

$30k seems like a lot. But I really don't know.
I'm not looking to buy another Tacoma. If I buy something else, it will be a full size truck.

    Yeah, we think a like.
Mine isn't worth $10k. But you can't afford new. And used is ridiculously priced.
Reality has left the building in the vehicle market.

Any reason specifically for a 15? As I sort of prefer the interior of the 11 yet still on the fence about the vampire teeth grille lol cant find any aftermarket grille to hide it

Not really, it's 4 years newer than the 2011
It "should" hold its value a bit better. Should OP ever want to sell the tuck.
