Anyone use their 2" hitch to plow?

Anyone use their hitch to hook up a small blade to plow their driveway

Lot questions, what keeps the plow straight? What keeps you from running into some thing you can't see going backward? Rocks, mail boxes snowmobiles?

 

The blade is fixed. Going slow. They will move when plowed into.

Remember, a bent frame is more or less a totaled Tacoma.

 

Reverse is the weak gear. Might not be your friend.

Get a quad or UTV

 

New one to me but I don't see why it would hurt anything for light duty small jobs. Not ideal if you have 2' of snow or several acres to plow but to do a driveway with a few inches of snow it should be fine.

You'd have plenty of torque in 4low and it shouldn't hurt the transmission any more than backing a 4000-6000 lb trailer. You're not going to be pushing anywhere near that much weight in snow. The rear suspension is better equipped to handle the weight than a plow mounted on the front.

Yes, backing would require more care, but I back out of my driveway every day and back my trailers into my driveway after every use. Why would it be any different with a plow mounted on the hitch.

Personally I'd love to see this done, just not on my truck, and captured on video, so we can all laugh when something breaks

 

I didn't see anything that plow could do that a good old fashioned blower couldn't.

OMFG... a front hitch receiver is a few hundred bucks.

 

A front mount Fisher plow is about $1500 bucks lights, wiring the whole 9 yards it paid for it self years ago. The weight is all in the front where it is needed the most. I plow my 1/4 mile drive way in low range I don't need to throw snow 10 feet. Yep 04010 we get a lot of snow 8" two days ago.
