    Hi all,

I am a newbie when it comes to suspension and lifting. I just bought a 2005 DCLB with stock suspension parts. Currently the front is about 2 1/4” lower than the rear so I want to lift the front about 2” to level it out. I don’t off-road and don’t want to spend a ton of money either. Can you please recommend all the parts I must buy and then the “nice to replace” parts?

Would that give me 2" lift? I was thinking about getting Bilstein 5100's and use the stock coils. What do you all think?

That's probably the better option yes. I was just giving the cheap answer

To answer your second question, yes, a 1" spacer will give you about 2" of lift in the front.

Why throw money at the truck to hurt performance. When you change one thing you create a domino effect and end up changing other things. Add another $100 or so for an alignment that will be needed after the lift. If you're doing something that makes the truck better, I'm OK with some mods. This isn't one of them.

Leave it alone and use the money for gas. The rear is about 2" higher from the factory for a very good reason. If you MUST lift the front, you also need to lift the rear the same amount. Once again, more expense, for no gain in this case.

I agree with this so I will keep it the way it is. Thank you for the advice.

Why would you have to lift the back if you level the front?

This would be an example of the stance with only the front lifted.

I’d say 3rd Gen take offs. I’d recommend off-road take offs with the coil springs. They won’t level it but they improve the ride, lift the front end slightly and you can do a 1/2 spacer on the driver side to combat the taco lean (Battery and a full gas tank). I’ve done all of this to include 3rd Gen leafs on the back, which are the same a late 2nd generation leafs just less miles. I will caution you to level the front as it will eventually result in bro-lean where the front sits higher than the back.

I also installed SumoSprings, the blue kind. It was easy to do especially replacing the springs, I also installed 5100 shocks on the rear. It rides great. I have a trailer that I occasionally pull and have put about 1/2 ton of corn for hunting in the bed and the front doesn’t sit higher than the rear and keep in mind most of the braking is done in the front, if the front is raised it’ll affect the braking.

Let’s get more info about the truck. How many miles are on it and does it appear to be factory original? If not original, then what suspension is underneath the truck.

    Leaf spring recall?

I mean if it's literally just a grocery getter leveling the truck isn't gonna hurt a thing

This. Rake has a purpose. When the rear is higher than the front, when you put payload into the bed, the truck will "level out" and you won't be blinding oncoming drivers at night.

Before me, it was a one owner truck with full service history with 178,000 miles on the odometer. Carfax check showed mileage to be original and I don’t have any reason to doubt it. Also the frame is pristine with zero rust.
