This picture is from my 2nd gen tacoma. I use my truck for work and sometimes after a 16 hour day heavy cases are hard to lift.

Reinforcing that area would be hard to do. The slider idea mentioned above might work.
But ultimately, you’re going to have to keep heavy loads from fall on that area.

    I can understand being tired.
You should see the bed of my truck.
There’s bar oil, wd40 and wood chips all over it. I too get tired and just start tossing stuff in the closest place it will fit.

To protect just the surfaces, rubber mat.

To avoid contact entirely, put a (collapsible?) box that is 1/2 the height of ground-to-truck ... lift 1 is on the box, lift 2 is into the truck.

And some exercising of the major back muscles might be in line, because the difficulty you feel now will translate into back issues from forcing misalignments. Anthropologists make good estimates of "laborer"/"shopkeeper" from the condition/warping of bones in the skeleton.

Maybe look into a decked cargo system that slides out of the bed.

This looks like the passenger door- are you saying you’re dropping heavy cases in the door jam?
If so, just stop hitting that area. Put items in bed, get more cases to lighten them, etc.

    So, we drive Tacomas, right?

    ...

Are we aware that a Tacoma has one of these?

A better prescription (eyeglasses - those are serious dents...).

I was thinking of those easy load ramps that Uhaul trucks have... Install one sideways.

To kick this concept up a notch, just install a lift gate.

That's "fair" normal wear and tear indentations there for a working truck.

I "Baby" the heck out of mine!

Not loading tools or anything that would cause dents on the metal frame of the door.

Like @Rock Lobster hinted at...use the bed to put your heavy items in...

I use the entire bedspace for heavy cases as well. I just have 3 large cases that fit just right in the back when the seats are folded down.

I intend on getting a van just for work but that's a couple years out. Figured I got 23k miles on my Tacoma. I can put another 40 - 60k or so then turn it into an overlander and use it just for fun.
