I average 18-23 mpg but it is a manual . Maybe the auto gear hunts too much and burns more gas .also check tire pressure .

I struggle to average 19 driving 90% highway @ 65-75mph. If I was driving on flat terrain I might come close to the EPA of 22 highway but everything is hills around here. I borrowed my brothers Ram 1500 hemi (8 speed transmission) and got almost 23 mpg (same roads and conditions). My hemi powered Chrysler 300C easily gets 24-25 on the same roads. That hemi is an amazing engine, 395hp 410ftlb pushing almost 4500 pounds with authority and is efficient.

I can’t complain, my 1st gen 3.4 OR was in the 14-15 range highway and was slow as molasses. The 3.5 has a lot more power so 19mpg is satisfactory for me. I didn’t buy the Toyota for efficiency, I bought it for the mid-size versatility.

I have gotten as high as 26.9 MPG in my 2020 TRD Sport with 6-speed MT. However, I follow most of the advice posted above about light foot, braking, tire inflation, etc. I see several post mentioning being "lifted". I am assuming that the body being a couple of inches higher than stock plays a role in fuel economy? Clarification appreciated.

    A few comments:
    • Looks like this thread started a day early (on a Thursday).
    • I'm LOLing at the folks who think oil will improve fuel economy, much less 1-3 MPG.

I average around 29 mpg for the miles I drive. It's really easy, normally I go fill my truck then I'll park it in the garage and take my wife's Hyundai and drive it till it's almost empty and park it in the garage. It gets 38mpg and then drive my Tacoma till she fills her car. The taco gets its normal 18-19 and start over. So for the miles I drive I think I'm averaging 28-29. Plus it's a great conversation starter with my wife.
