And the reward, after days in the stand, from warm October afternoons to frosty November mornings.

Jalapeño poppers made with backstrap. And yes, they were good. Very. Good.

I agree. .260 is a sweet little deer round that never caught on and is perfect in a Model 7

I have a Tikka T3X CTR stainless with the 20” barrel in .260 Remington. It is freakishly accurate, and topped with a Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44, recoil is nonexistent. My ten year old shot a doe at 170 yards this year, and a button buck at 175 yards last year. I have a couple of .308 Wins, a .270 Win, a .357 Henry Big Boy, and a Winchester 94AE 30-30. The .260 REM is definitely my favorite out of the lot based on the sheer accuracy that can be achieved with it. The pictures are a three and five shot group at 100 yards with factory hunting ammunition. Not a fluke either. It will do it consistently.

I've often heard that those who have a .260 will not likely part with them.

8 jalapeños- sliced in half seeds removed
Cream cheese - not spreadable. In the box
    Deer backstrap
    Bacon
    Italian dressing or other marinade

Cut backstrap into strips. I actually used the tenderloins and the size was perfect. Marinade in Italian dressing (or your fave marinade) for 2 hours.

Fill jalapeño halves with cream cheese. Place strips of meat on top. Wrap with bacon. Secure bacon with wet toothpicks.

Place on broiler pan. (Won’t sit in bacon grease). Cook at 375 for 20-30 minutes.

For crispier bacon broil on high for 2 min.

    Enjoy!!

for what it's worth, my 22 yr old crossbow is freakishly accurate up to 40 yrds (when i get to use it) no kick, i use it (when im able) during bow and powder, now these new x-bows can reach much farther out, but i'll settle for what I got..

Just because the more modern xbows can reach out much farther doesn't mean the average feller needs to shoot (at animals) that far. I'm old school; I like to hear them breathe. 12 yards is my favorite. :)

I've shot at targets 60 out no problem.
In the woods,40yd circle. Anything inside,OK
Anything outside, even a couple yards, no go.

Very tempting when a Buck is 45 yards out, but one has to know their limits for an ethical kill.
May not apply to everybody, just my rules.
