Lions - higher interest rates coming this year and next, which will certainly hurt car buyer's pocket book. Look for major declines in auto sales which will include 2024 Tacoma. When buyers start seeing 10% - 13% interest tacked on to their monthly car payment, Look Out Below.
Flat out Toyota is picking the worst time (interest rate wise) to come out with a new mid-size truck. Worst Time.

Tigers - With rates rising consumers are going to look at cheaper vehicles to buy. As in $20,000 to $35,000 range. Not "High in Range". Any vehicle manufacturer selling ICE or Hybrid or EV over $50,000 is going to be in a HEAP of TROUBLE. As in dwindling sales. Just wait a few more months as the Fed keeps raising rate and car sales start to drop through da floor. Its going to be Ugly.

Bears - Lastly over saturation of cars, trucks, EV's etc. coming in 2024. Dealer lots will be brimming with new cars that no one can afford, much less drive off the lot with dealership (rip-off) car financing. Use car sales could spike next year with buyers willing to save thousands of dollars buying a used 2020 or a 2021 model and kissing new 2024 models good bye.

Yea many Tacoma lovers says "Built It and They Will Come". But Spock Logic says build it expensive, during a Major Recession with sky high interest rates and "They Will Not Come".

    Good Night

Cash buyers have less leverage in buying cars at dealerships. But since you know the future you already knew that right?

Dealers make a flat or reserve on the financing, so a cash buyer is less attractive to a dealership especially in times where inventory levels are at 20% of what they were 4-6 years ago.

Ideal customers are local (for potential service revenue), looking to buy and finance a vehicle and has a trade-in. The out of state cash buyer no trade is undesirable in todays market.

You can always tell who has no idea what they're talking about when they write in absolutes about topics that can't be anything but completely speculative.

That’s the case though. A dealer may work a bit since they they’re getting a fee on the loan. You could have always paid off the loan after 2-3 weeks. But that deal was probably not available with cash or outside financing.

OP, most Americans will rely on interest rates to buy cars they can’t afford, and it has been this way since the inception of credit.

The rate itself is meaningless. People will always buy the new and shiny thing.
