Hey guys, I just picked up a 2006 4.0 taco that has electrical problems. While the car is running (or while engine is off), the dome lights + radio will stop working intermittently. I have an aftermarket radio installed, but the original radio was doing the same thing. I also just replaced the battery. I've checked the fuses for the radio/dome lights under the hood and all are good. Any suggestions?

The Dome light and the Clock both share the same power from the 7.5A Dome fuse.
They do not share a common ground.

Both the Dome and Clock are fed power from the 1C connector.
I'd inspect that the fuse itself is tightly in place.
Then take a look at connector 1C
The power comes in from pin 4 on 1C. A white wire.

Check the Short Pin in the Engine Room Fuse Box, it powers the radio and dome among other things and has been known to develop a bad connection.

Wires are probably loose. My pioneer setup worked loose after 7 years, never soldered it, just twisted and taped and am surprised it lasted that long.

I removed the dome light in my 05 as it was drawing and draining my battery. Not a big deal; truck is only used for 4x4 in winter. I’m planning on doing a stand alone dome light when funds and time allow

Short pin powers the Body ECU, Dome Light and the Radio. It is just a shorting bar connector that is removed during storage and shipping to prevent battery drain. Installed during final inspection and prep at the dealer.

Thanks guys! After re-inserting the short pin, the dome light/radio started to work again... I'll see if that's a permanent fix or not though.

Worst case you can just solder a wire across the connections for the short pin as it serves no other purpose... Highly unlikely you would ever need to remove it...
