Toyota has been letting fan boys down for decades, (never did get the 70 Series or modern HiLux) this probably won’t be much different. You can’t make everyone happy, but you can certainly piss them all off.

Looks like they finally got the drivetrain, chassis and payload right. Styling is subjective, but with most new designs over the years, at first it is shocking then it grows on you. My biggest gripe is loosing the access cab, but hey…a double cab will work and perhaps it would be nice to have a little extra room in the cab.

 

Seems more like an example of mass reverse-psychology to me.

We all know that this truck is going to blow the doors off the G2 and G3.

 

Don't forget @4runnerToTacoma will do the same about the lawnmower engine!

 

One thing I found yesterday is that the 2.4T has a 3" coolant inlet. That's pretty flipping big for an engine of that size. I'm thinking that's a good sign, if anything.

 

Cooling the turbo, possibly exhaust manifold, heating for the interior and could cool other systems.

 

Yes. I perceive it being that size as someone having done his homework.

 

I'm mostly just referring to the pricing and available options per model. I actually like what I have seen overall, not love, but like.

The pricing is gonna make or break it for me.

 

If you like the new Tacoma, at what price would you not like it? Would you go to a Ford/Chevy/Nissan just to save ~$1,000?

 

Or maybe how much better does it need to be versus the increase in price to convince current owners to not save their money and just put another 50-100k mi on their Gen2 or 3. Gen4 is a big leap forward, but they’re all solid, handsome, reliable BOF trucks.

 

I can’t wait to waste time with the configurator building a truck I can’t buy for a year or more.

Go buy a Tundra while you wait, then trade it in when Tacos become available.

 

It doesn’t seem like there’s enough of a change worthy of trading in a 2nd or 3rd gen for. Is slightly more HP and a slightly different look worth spending $50K on?

 

If a TRD Pro is $49,995 I would buy it over the ZR2. If it’s $55,000-59,000 I’d buy the ZR2.

 

Or when the Tundras engine seizes.
