This guy thoroughly tested and measure suspension components and travel between the new and old Tundra. If this is the direction Toyota chose with the new Tacoma I am going to be disappointed.

I really love how deep Tinker gets into the technologies and explains it from 30,000 feet down into the weeds and worms.

    All of it
He had access to a new Tacoma a few months ago and got to spend a day under it. He hasn't been allowed to release the video yet, but I would keep an eye out for it. He sounded very impressed with the new Tacoma and coming from him, that gives me a lot of hope for these new trucks.

Those 3rd gen tundra pro tires are not off the shelf LT rated wildpeaks. Those are P rated “mildpeaks”. Lots of threads out there about how they don’t even last 25k miles. They’re different thread depth, different compound, and different thread design.

If the 4Runner is any indication, stock vs. stock the 3rd gen Tacoma will outflex the 4th gen. A quick look at the short brake hoses should give you an idea of the restricted axle articulation:

However, once modified it'll be a wash. And modified is what matters, because who wheels with stock suspension?

We had a flex ramp at a local Toyota club meet / mall crawl. Notice the 4Runner got up to the same height on the flex ramp as my Tacoma, despite having a much shorter wheelbase. 4-link can flex very well if the surrounding components (shocks, bushings) can accommodate it:
