Outrageous Wheel Quote from Toyota?

I am planning on winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2, 265/70R16) and during my standard service today for my 22' TRD Off-Road & I asked Toyota how much wheels would be. The quote was for 4 OEM wheel disks was $2943.88.

Not including the Blizzaks.

$3gs for some wheels? Are they kidding?

 

They are very proud of their wheels. If you find them used as takeoffs, you could probably get them for like less than 1000 bucks.

Just fishing.

Too many options to mess with them on simple things like that.

 

Not sure where you're located, but OEM takeoff wheels often pop up on craigslist/FB Marketplace in my area for reasonable prices, definitely less than $3gs

 

@FlowFinder just to be clear they quoted you a 16" steel wheel at ~750??

 

I sold my OEM OR alloys w/tpms for $500. Quick sale to a 2nd Gen owner.

 

Yup, that sounds about in line with prices here in the PNW. I could not fathom paying the amount OP was quoted.

 

Every online site is literally swimming in takeoff listings.

 

You just have to be in the right place at the right time. Either that or play the waiting game. When I have something to sell that’s taking up space I want it gone now. Or it ends up in my garage forever it seems. I’ve got some OEM tails that I’ve been trying to sell forever.

 

The only person buying a genuine factory wheel from the dealership is an insurance company so they might as well crank up the prices

This is my opinion so YMMV. As expensive as they are, OEM wheels just look 'right' on a Tacoma. Buying new may not be the right thing to do, although I got my OEM steel wheels at a discounted price which worked for me. Check the market place sites.There are deals out there. I sold my OEM alloys on FB and made a 2nd Gen owner very happy.

You might want to check out the Toyota black friday sale. There is a thread in the 3rd Gen forum with people getting good discounts on OEM wheels.
