Went to a mechanic recommended to me by my boss today about getting a lift kit on my truck. He recommended the Rough Country's in the link below with the M1 struts upgrade. I don't know much about lift kits or suspensions but I've heard that rough country is pretty much the cheapest thing out there and so I come to you seeking a second opinion. Will I regret getting these down the road? Should I fork out a couple hundred bucks more for something else?

For reference my truck is primarily a daily driver with some light off roading. I'd like to get a roof top tent in the future and get into overlanding though.

Not a fan of that brand… I would stick with bilstein 5100s…

but, I am not an expert in any ways…

Bilstein 5100 is way more economical and will be better in the long run. If you plan to, “get into over landing” in the near future, then don’t go overboard. A vast majority of people spend big money on the overlanding look and then sell their stuff here on the marketplace a short time later.

Make the truck comfortable as your daily driver and start camping/ overlanding. You’ll quickly learn what you actually want and need for what you plan to do. 99% of the time, a rooftop tent is not needed for your one trip a year.

It really comes down to what you use case is for the lift. With most things you get what you pay for and lofts are no different. If you are looking at lowest cost and a decent lift, then Bilstein is a good choice. I would pass on the rough country and go with some other brands that still offer affordable entry level options. Take a look at Old Man Emu (OME), Fox, Icon, Dobinson, Toytec.

Get something else. I have found most shops in my area recommend Rough Country. Those shops tend to be general mechanic shops and not an off-road shop.

It is smart to get other opinions, as many shops push the brand they get the best discount with (therefor they make more on the part),,, of course there is a line, as if you insist on another brand, that gives them an out on problems down the road.
I like Bilsteins, and happy with mine, but there are other good brands out there too,,, RC not being one of em.
