I get up early to smoke a prime rib, scratch made horsey sauce and loaded potatoes. Everyone else brings a side dish. Good times are had by all.

Christmas Eve we always go to my parents' for a traditional Ukrainian Orthodox dinner, though we don't generally get to the requisite 12 dishes:
Boiled wheat with poppyseed, honey, walnuts and candied cherries ("kutia")
    Fish
    Pyrogies
    Beans
    Beets
    Mushrooms
    Sour cabbage rolls
For dessert, fruitcake, shortbread cookies plus whatever treats my brother makes.

Christmas Day at my wife's parents' is traditional:
    Turkey
    Mashed potatoes
    Stuffing
    Gravy
    Corn
Broccoli and cauliflower in a cream sauce topped with cheese and baked
Peaches and sweet potato baked and topped with cashews
    Home made buns
Some type of "yule log" for dessert

    No pictures, sorry.

Probably 15 or 16 years ago we took the kids to Disneyland for Christmas. Christmas dinner was spent at the Blue Bayou Restaurant at the entrance to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. From that day forward the kids requested that we have Monte Cristo sandwiches as our traditional holiday meal. Triple decker, ham, turkey, swiss, and cheddar. Dipped in eggs and cream, fried golden brown, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with maple syrup. Pic not mine but ours looked better…lol

We usually do a smoked roast beef for Christmas, prime rib we do on New Years Eve.

With the roast beef it's usually green beans (wife makes em the southern way with lots of bacon), either normal mashed potatoes or loaded mashed potatoes, rolls, and then whatever other sides we decide to make and of course, cookies & pies.

Well I really shot off my mouth.

We went to a nice steakhouse downtown for Thanksgiving, and while waiting I made the mistake of saying "I really hate restaurants. You can't socialize with everyone and nothing is comfortable." And everyone retorts with "sounds like you just volunteered for hosting Christmas."

    :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

So..uh, I guess I'm going meat shopping in a couple of weeks.
