Even the newer (higher-end) ThinkPads are getting less serviceable as everything is becoming ultra-thin. RAM, CPU and even WiFi are all soldered to the board now. I think the screen and keyboard are still relatively easy to fix though.

I think I'm gonna go 4070. I have to buy one for the wife too. The Gigabyte Windforce OC seems to be the cheapest while still being highly rated. Now to scrape pennies together...

My HTPC is having all kinds of issues. It's an older rig that I repurposed for gaming on the TV and I think it's just tired. I'm just gonna slap a mobo, cpu, ram combo in there to refresh things. Where dem Black Friday combo deals at?

I’ve built a few over the years. My first one was ThinkServer TS140 that I’ve converted into my gaming rig. Jamming GTX 970 in there was fun. It’s still around, but now it is pending setup as a media server.

    My current rig is
    Ryzen5 3600
    32 GB RAM
    1TB NVME
    1TB SSD
    3x1TB HDDs
XFX Merc 319 Black 6750 XT
    RM 850x
Noctua CPU tower cooler and case fans
    CoolerMaster Maker 5 case
Custom sleeve cables to match Noctua fans
Dual booting Windows 10 - Kubuntu

I’ve also build gaming/all-around rigs for my mom, my husband and my daughter.
    All of them have
    Ryzen5 2600
Noctua AMD low profile CPU cooler
    1 TB SSD
    16 GB RAM

then depending on who wanted what - different GPUs, case fans, and cases.

I splurged a little on myself yesterday, grabbed a cyber Monday deal on a Ryzen 5 5800X to upgrade my 3600, I’m currently running the AMD wraith cooler and from my reading that cooler is a little undersized. I would like to stay black with an RGB ring fan or something similar to keep the look.

    Specs
    - intel i9 14900k
    - gigabyte z790 aorus master x
    - gigabyte rtx 3060 12gb
    - ddr5 trident z5 cl30 (i believe? maybe cl32)
    - artic freezer ii 360
    - solidigm p44 pro 2tb (2 of them)
    - samsung 990 pro (2 of them)
    - lian li strimers
    - thermal take atx 1350
    - nzxt h9 flow case

and like $700 in fans lmao... still waiting on the reverse infinity fans, so those arent installed. 9 intake fans, 4 exhaust, has to be tester if its to much ill tone down the intake to 6.

i had some issues with the aio not fitting in the vertical pos, i knew ahead of time it was going to be a problem but it wasnt really.. i just cut the damn metal to fit.

will replace aio and bottom fans for infinity fans when they arrive.

That’s the most non gaming RGB pc build I think I’ve ever seen. :rofl:Not to mention the $600 cpu for the kids to be able to watch cartoons. I respect it.

Almost bit the bullet on 5800x3d to upgrade from a 5600x but scored deal on a ROG STRIX laptop.

Pretty decent tech sales this yr..

So, anyone want to barter and get rid of some old stuff?

Looking for a DDR3 mobo for overclocking an LGA775 socket cpu

If you've got ram to go with it, even better

I've got a 9800 GTX and an E8400 I want to use in an old school build

Also gonna need an OS+key for XP or Vista

Lately a lot of people have been asking for CNC cut parts/signs so I can do that :burp:

Looking for some help troubleshooting random restarts when playing a pretty low demand game. I bought a used computer for work that had some decent mid/low end parts that were good enough for me and to run some multimedia/games in my basement.
I'm a total noob at computer trouble shooting parts, so hopefully someone can give me a few pointers to start.

I attached specs for reference. I'm thinking video card is just about done?
Random restarts occasionally during gaming, never when doing mundane work stuff.

    Thoughts where to begin?
Edit: Updated latest geforce card drivers, and Windows 10 PRO. 53.png

Clean sweep of any and all software

Programs themselves can restart your PC as they auto update and install themselves

Do you ever get a blue screen of death? If so, start with running some stress tests (available free)

You can check Event Viewer for some clues, might not tell you much but could tell you everything you need to know. Look in the "Critical" section.

Also, not likely the cause of your issue, but you should see if there's a motherboard bios update available, from 2016 is pretty outdated.

The funny thing was it started doing this pretty much immediately after I picked it up from so called trustworthy person who sold it to me. Wasn't worth my time or efforts to chase after this person... He installed Windows 10 pro and nothing else. Obviously he did enough to get up to speed, but knew something was up.

No blue screen of death, the only thing other than shut down/restart it has done is continue playing background Youtube while the screens shut down. Otherwise it's usually restarts.
I'll look at the stress tests again and see if I can get it to act up. Thanks for info.

Thanks for info, never used Event Viewer but I'll give it a shot.
One of the first things I did was update the mother board, seemed to help a bit. But who knows, maybe that was coincidence.

Could be an overheating issue as well, I'd blast out any fans and radiators with compressed air.

Found the Event Viewer, not sure exactly of the time of the last restart, but think this may have been around the time it happened.

    Capture error.png

Not sure I looked it up right but googled the name of the issue and found this page.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/a...o-solve-wmiaprpl-failed-with-error-code-devic

I ran the command prompt scan and it said it fixed some files...

Edit: forgot to mentioend couldnt find "Critical" section yet. First time ever using this app lol

If you click top left and select the broad event viewer category, it'll show a summary section. If you have any critical events it'll be in the critical category. Error *probably* wouldn't cause a complete reboot, but who knows. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it's not.
