Hi Everyone. I just bought my first Tacoma - 2021 TRD Sport. I am looking for recs on tires that will make it look awesome. I currently have 265/65 R17 112T’s on them from a brand I have never heard of. Looking for something that will not be loud on streets and freeways, will handle well in the rain and snow and just look kick ass. Thoughts?

    Congrats on the truck.

There are many tire, and “what size tires can I fit?” threads on here. Lots of information, use the search function.

One thread I found helpful, but long, is one with “skinnies” in the title- I’m having difficulty finding it but it’s here.

    Good luck in your search.

Welcome to TW Scott, and congratulations on the new truck! As already said, there are numerous threads on this subject, just do a search. But, many on here like the Faulkin Wildpeaks, others have said they're a very good all around tire. Enjoy your new truck!

The falken wildpeaks are extremely popular. I have never run them but they’re said to be very good on wet pavement.

BFG KO2. Some people don’t like their rain characteristics but I didn’t have an issue with 2 sets of them. 3 peak snow rated

Falken wildpeak At3 are popular and 3 peak snow rated.

I run the Falken Wildpeaks, SL ply, 265/70r17. Honest review -

    • not be loud on streets and freeways - meh. They don't scream and rumble like a mud terrain, but they aren't silent as a Michelin street tire either. As far as comparing AT against AT, they are right in the middle. There is some noise, but not a lot of noise.
    • handle well in the rain and snow - check. I love the grip, both on and off pavement, both wet and dry. This is a tire that does not excel at one thing, but it performs well under all categories. Its a fantastic jack-of-all-trades type tire. It has not gotten me stuck yet - it'll really mountain goat over some surprising terrain with confidence.
    • just look kick ass - Also check. Its one of the more kick-assy looking ATs without having to go full knobby.

    • (not mentioned, but it will be) mileage - not so hot. Even in the puny SL load Falkens run on the heavy side for their size. Expect to lose 1-3 MPG from a street tire.
    • (also not mentioned) price - not bad. They are generally more reasonable in price than other quality brands. And oddly enough the 265/70R17 size, which fits the truck better than stock, seems to have the best prices on average when shopping the same tire.

Welcome aboard OP, nice looking sport you have there! You can go up one size taller on your tire without needing a lift or spacers if you want, to 265/70 17. They look really good and won't mess up your speedometer. I have 265/70 17 Nitto terra grapplers and they are OK, but I'll be the first to admit the falken wildpeaks look better. I haven't had the nitto's long enough to judge them much but they hook up good in the wet and dry and aren't too noisy.

I recently bought a 2wd Tacoma TRD Sport. Being just 2wd, I don't plan to ever take it off-road. It has BF Goodrich Trail Terrain tires and I am happy with them. My previous vehicle was a 2013 Jeep Wrangler 4 door and I did some pretty hard off-roading in it in Colorado. I had BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 tires on it and they were amazing off-road. If my Tacoma was 4wd, then I would definitely buy the All Terrain KO2 tires for it.

Several posts recommending the AT3s. I have 8,000 miles on a set of Toyo Open Country AT3 tires purchased this spring. They are fairly quiet even at 75 mph plus highway speeds. Excellent off road traction on muddy and moderately rocky roads. My friends who ride with me on river trips have said these tires are quiet and ride very smooth.

40k on these Goodyear Ultra Terrain stock size. No noise, great in the sand down in Baja and I will probably never buy another brand again. IMG_0598.jpgIMG_0597.jpg

Ya want the 3peak rating if you ever go to Utah in the winter. Unless you are going out into the rocks stay away from the heavy E rated tires.
