    Howdy!

Will be pulling out a Micro Minnie 1706FB over Thanksgiving, I know these trucks arent meant for towing has taller leafs in the rear (ARB OME)... and my 33" Load Range E Falken Wildpeaks may not help... but yall think I will be good?

Towing it only 40 miles there, then 40 miles back, gunna have a wife, and camping gear (beer/water/food etc.) only issue is, its pretty damn hilly... dont want to blow up my truck... have the tow package I guess that may help a bit

    Cheers

    1. Get a brake controller and get it installed before you go. You might want to hop on that 1-day shipping right now.

    2. You won't blow up the truck. Pack that trailer light, if possible don't fill the water tank until you are at camp. Take it slow, its your first time pulling that trailer. Also try to time it so that you have 3 hours of daylight remaining when you arrive. Nothing sucks like backing and leveling an unfamiliar trailer after dark.

3.Read up on the towing bible thread tonight after you have ordered your brake controller.

    Enjoy your holiday.

The transmission will go long before the engine.
if you have an Auto, tow in 4th, or what ever gear it takes to keep the transmission from shifting all the time.
If it's a manual, keep it above 2,500 rpm.
These engine don't even start to come alive until about 3,000 rpm.

The 3.5 will turn more RPM the the 4.0 in my truck.
And I tow mine in 4th pushing 3,000+ rpm steadily. No issues yet.
    I'm at 167k miles.

Awesome! I only plan to do this once, maybe twice a year at the most

I am actually renting the trailer, wife is sick of sleeping in a tent so when I take her to the desert she wants a trailer

No backing up needed, out in the desert so just pull along side everyone else and pull away when its time to leave

I will look into a brake controller as well, might be a good idea for peace of mind

Looks like it's well within the towing capacity, as long as you don't max it out with cargo.

I'd avoid loading things in the bed, but rather load as much as possible in the trailer, ahead of the axle.

Keep it in S4 or maybe S5 if you're on a flat road. Don't try to accelerate fast. Just take your time and plan ahead. Don't exceed 65 MPH.

    +1 on the brake controller!

For a couple times a year, you should be ok for short distances. I had to upgrade to a full size after my first trip with my MM1708. It was not fun.

The trailer is under 3000 lbs. and you’re only going 40 miles and hills or not this ain’t a big deal. Just load up the trailer and go. You learn as you go. All of us started towing not knowing shit. We just hooked up a trailer and went. If it has brakes (I assume it does) then yes hook up a brake controller. This just really is no biggie. Don’t worry about it, just do it. Enjoy the journey.

I tow a micro minnie 2108 and it handles it. Brake controller and weight distribution hitch are musts. I try to keep it under 60 and tow in S4 with ETC button pressed.

Update: It did fine, no brake controller or special hitch. Handled it like a champ no worries

Brake controller and a bigger trans cooler would have been nice, but didn't absolutely need it

These trucks tow fine, even with bigger tires and some suspension thanks all for the help!

Get the brake controller. You don't need a special hitch or trans cooler, but you do need a brake controller. It's not just for safety, but you are legally required to have one at those weights. They don't have to cost much and the install is pretty simple.
