So my auto transmission throttle body worked fine. However I decided to send in my original to max bore. It’s on an working perfectly. I’d say seat of the pants is noticeable. Throttle response is perfect for a NA 3.4. Also max bore has some great customer service. Check this note he put in my returned TB.

One thing I noticed on my original IACV is that the mechanism didn't move as freely as the one that came on my e-bay purchase from years ago. The little door inside would kind of hang up. I had excessive play in my throttle plate linkage as well as that stripped out thread.

Hey, I've been going through something similar. Someone posted on Yotatech about the correct throttle body being discontinued, but that the one like you bought was still available and could work. Problem I have is that every photo, whether on forums or used throttle bodies on Ebay don't look like mine...They look like the new one.

Mine looks like yours. Rather than one spring attached to a triangle-shaped metal bracket under the dash pot (if they actually have the dash pot), both my springs attach to a metal pin sticking out of the housing. I bought a throttle body that looks just like the one you bought. I've been trying to get all my throttle cable linkages off my old throttle body to put on the new one. I can get everything off my old one, but can't get them off the new one. On my old one, there's a pressed-on washer, then a c-ring, then everything slides off. On the new one there's a threaded nut which comes off easy, but then nothing else will slide off. Something is holding all the linkages on and I can't figure out what. There's a lot of plastic on the new one so I don't want to force things...

BUT...if I don't need to swap linkages, that's even better. I know you've got your original, rebuilt throttle body back on, but do you have photos of the bracket you made for the throttle cable to make the new one fit? I'm not convinced everything is lined up right on the new one, as far as throttle cable attachments go...but I'll need to bolt it onto my truck to make sure.

Photos of old and new. Looks just like your photo. Other thing I don't understand is that this new one is supposedly "without cruise". So why are there two throttle cable linkages?

If you have any insight, I'd appreciate it!

You don’t have to swap linkages at all. In my picture if you look at where the throttle cable attaches to the plenum you need to lengthen that attachment point. I had a square piece of bar I used to do this. The linkage attachment point on the throttle body for the automatic sits away from the throttle body attachment point roughly about 1.5” away. I had an old throttle body spacer and that bar came with it. If you look at my picture (might be hard to see) but where the throttle body attaches to the upper plenum you can see the slight difference.

I did not swap over any linkages at all. My 3.4 had a throttle body spacer on it when I got it. I took it off. The only thing I used from that kit was a metal plate that was used for mounting the throttle cable to the intake plenum. Unfortunately I don't think I have any pictures of that exact setup. You have the same year as mine it seem so it should all work.

    Thank you!

Do you have cruise? I don't see it in any of your pictures.

I'll take some time and see if mine will work without any linkage swapping.

So here's my problem. The throttle cable connects, but the cruise cable doesn't. The linkage is the reverse of my old one. Probably because that linkage is for the auto transmission, not cruise? This might be why I need to swap linkages from the old to new throttle body.

Cruise cable needs to go on circled linkage.

Opposite orientation as the old one.

Seems like you didn't have this issue. Maybe because you don't have cruise? I drive a lot of highway miles. I think for now I'd rather have a high idle than be without cruise!

You are correct. I do not have cruise. I wonder if you got the throttle cables for an automatic if that would fix your issue as well.

Alright that makes sense then, thanks. If I was willing to live without cruise, I'd have this thing on and running. For now, I'll have to try to get the linkages off it. If all else fails, Max Bore! I hadn't heard of him before I bought it.

did you ever swap the linkages? Have the same throttle body as you and trying to figure out if it’s even possible

Nope. New throttle body has been sitting in the closet waiting to hear back from the guy on Yotatech who posted about doing it. He seems to have disappeared. My backup plan was to put the new one on and run it without cruise while I sent my old one to MaxBore for a rebuild. But Max died. There may be someone else out there rebuilding these but basically that's the wall I hit, and my motivation temporarily ran out.

I'll definitely update this thread if I learn something. Please do the same!

Hey man! I got the cruise working on the throttle body. To start off it’s a pretty hack job, but it was purely just to test my idea to see if it even worked. Basically just zip tied the cruise control wire to the pictured extension of metal on the TB. I have tested it numerous times and it has worked perfectly without fail. I eventually want to secure it in a better fashion but don’t have the time since my summer class has started. I’m maybe thinking of drilling small holes to fasten it down, not sure yet though. Let me know if you have any ideas. And also let me know if this is stupidly dangerous and shouldn’t be done at all haha IMG_4354.jpg
