Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Visiting the snow up in the mountains today. Starting to get a bit more up high now but lots of drought for the last year now.

Beautiful and quiet on fresh snow with no others on this trail. One cowboy on horseback was a bit lower down the mountain and with his border collie was herding about 40 cattle. Had a nice chit chat with him.

Unfortunately these videos are not from today, but I finally got around to uploading some videos from our trip out to Moab this past summer. Being that it was my first time out in Moab, I only completed about 1/3 to 1/2 of Hell's Revenge before turning back, but I'm looking forward to getting back out there this winter to hit up those trails again. Such an incredible area.

During this trip we also hit up Shafer Trail in Canyonlands National Park. Epic backcountry road & easily doable in a stock taco.

Another beautiful snow day. Lucked out on the weather. Its about 20km of pretty steep climbing to get to the top where it levels out. Then parked it and walked the trail.

Great looking truck. I sometimes wish I went with tube/hybrid bumpers.

A short trip today. Too warm, around zero which makes the snow too slick.

These photos at lower elevation. I went higher to 16 inch snow but with this temperature I had little traction on the steeper grades. Just swimming from side to side, despite the 500 lbs weight over the rear axle and good tires. If it were -5c or colder it would have been much better traction.

Pretty soon it is the end off off roading here until maybe March next year. These trails will soon have 2 - 3 foot of snow on them. Maybe get in another trip next week.

The FSR at lower elevation (not shown) is a wonderful compacted skating rink right now. Good for ice hockey. Last week some guy went off the side and down a 75 foot embankment and needed rescue.

He won’t be the last this winter. Strange, these trucks never handle as well as they do in the TV commercials. :)

I've been seeing a lot of posts in the Okanogan recovery forum of folks getting caught in the slop. This time of year, my preference is always to get in and out early before things get above freezing. You carry chains I assume.

Don’t need them. 40 years of this, never stuck once. Responsible, know when to turn back. Plus I have lots of recovery gear, toolbox jammed to the tits with that stuff. I can get myself out if needed.

Did get stuck once about 45 years ago, that in a 2wd 1976 chevy pickup. Trying to get to Prosser lake above Princeton, but in early spring and a late season heavy snowfall hit.

Took me about 8 hours to get out. I put chains on, no help. Built myself about an 80 foot long path I cut from small poplars and placed under both wheels for that length. Truck took a beating with those poplars slamming up under it as I got out. Weather switched to nice next day and I still got in 2 days of fishing.

Young and stupid back then, now older and slightly less stupid.
