No. It' shadows, and angles. (Also, the bed bolts aren't tight)

I saw that in the picture too. And freaked out. Tape measure don't lie.

Even before, the shock towers measured exactly the same when I tacked them, and then after I burned them in.

 

Did some cutting today.

 

New (that I've had laying around for 1+ years) stainless brake lines. The hard line didn't seem to engage much onto the steel line but its tight and doesn't leak so that's something I guess. Still have a soft-ish pedal after getting air out and new fluid in. Have an extra master cylinder I might throw in just to see.

 

Back on 4 wheels... for the first time in almost 2 months.

That ain't so bad. Be easy to cover the holes too with some light sheet metals to keep water and shit out.

 

Fixed that troublesome left turn signal. It was a doddle to get to. Nice hot dome of solder and she was good to go.

 

Nice! A good dome of solder is not as easy as it seems, great job.

 

I like to bleed with a Motive power bleeder (I know the owner, great dude, a real car nut) and it is great for solo bleeding. A good investment if you cant borrow one. With the Motive and perhaps a few hammer taps here and there to dislodge trapped air has always worked for me even on really picky clutch slave cylinders. But I think on these trucks you need to pay special attention to the rear brake proportioning valve. I would raise the rear and bleed it first if you have not already.

I drove mine to get a haircut. Not very exciting but I have a LCE header on order so thats new. And I installed a seat heater kit for a Corolla last week just in time for it getting cold here. Best $50 and couple hours I have spent in recent times. Highly recommended.

 

I just got new(old) wheels and tires for my 1998 SR5 4x4.
Replaced the original stock 15" wheels with 16's from a wrecked 98' Prerunner TRD.
Cooper ST max. E. 265/75R 16's

This is the start of a remake. 23 years I've had it. 338,984 Resto-mod?
Got a hold of a mechanic buddy and he's ready.
New suspension parts, Toyota. Bilstein 5100 shocks. New u-joints. New brakes if needed...then onward.

I'll make appointment with the spring guy,2 month wait. Re-bend springs, add a leaf and align.

Looking at bumpers. Strip lights. Rocker guards.

Next year rebuild engine while it's good. Everything new.

Flat black and original Satsuma Red. No chrome. Wheels too.
Hood and cab faded,camper shell clear coat needs redo. Too many years in sun.

When you get your header installed let me know if you have any more vibrations. Losing that downpipe to transmission connection when putting mine in made it vibrate like crazy.

 

Hmm, will do, doubting I will as the engine is super smooth. Are your exhaust hangers fresh?

 

Yup replaced them all. I was surprised when it started happening maybe it just showed a larger problem with worn engine mounts or something but I wasn't expecting it.

 

It seems like the motor mounts on these are pretty stout but I am certainly going to check them while I am in there. I should probably just replace them anyway. I am a fan of fixing things before they go bad on old cars/trucks. Usually.
