Think the SR5 XtraCab has leafs. What @2k2 was referring to.

Watched a video with Andre from TFL showing the XtraCab, was struggling to show the rear storage box behind the driver’s seat. Kept on thinking, why in the World did they ditch the Access Cab…

Tahoes and Suburbans have always been very reliable vehicles.

Andre misspeaks a lot. I think he meant the lower horsepower two wheel drive truck gets 26 mpg.

Was on the Chevy site, the diesel is only a $1000 up charge over the gasser in the LS trim. Used to seeing the trucks being a $8-12K up charge.

Was sitting beside a Suburban on the way home from work. All white, black wheels slightly over size AT tires, no lift I don’t think, it was sharp. Clean and simple.

Lifter issues and torque converters failing. Constant issues.

The newer 6.2L is far more problematic than the older ones with lifters, but it’s still a good engine. The new LZ0 variant of the 3.0L has been fairly quiet for problems other than using more DEF than the outgoing LM2, which seems to be making it run better.

There is more to it than that, the MT tune also lowers the redline from just over 6K down to around 5,400 RPM.

The head engineer mentioned something about crankshaft hammering, but I don't design engines so IDK what that means.

There is likely some set of equations for the safety factors that components in the engine/transmission have. I am sure Toyota has their set of internal standards on products, and the engine tune had to be altered for the manual transmission models so that the parts have a high enough stress safety factor.

My FIL is a Chevy guy, used travel all over the US for work, said he would run his up 250-300K no issues other than needing brakes every now and then.

Replaced 2 torque converters on a customers of mine, 2 on another. A different customer bought a new Silverado and had the engine fail on the George Washington Bridge while towing his camper. Needless to say, he wasn't very happy.

~110 years of making vehicles and having major engine failures with the technology we have these days is hard to grasp for me. I'll keep my faith in Toyota until proven otherwise. (I type this from inside my 2006 Pontiac Vibe/Matrix with 332k miles :p)

Believe so. They were all company trucks, think all they did was change the oil religiously. Mostly all highway miles, so there is that.

Yes that one, if Toyota can do no wrong then won’t the 4 cylinder be problem free with 25k mile OCI

That is the funniest, most contradictory marketing term Ive ever heard.

At least the Jeep Bro s with the gas tanks and MaxiPad Traxx get theirs dirty.
99.99% of those GXs will never see any part of a trail.

I am not sure what you are trying to imply. But, I'm not as worried as others are here about the I4 turbo from Toyota.

Three trucks with problems? You must have missed the discussions on the new Tundra engine failures.
