It's a sunny balmy 24 out. Snow tonight thru Fri.
The Lopi stove doing it's job. Even turned the furnace off. For now.

Got my Ford all set to get the door fixed next week. $300 he said. Ma & Pa place.
Stopped to fill it up and just looked at Jerry who has my new tires and the wheels still on the wreck 100 yards away...

Just got a call asking white in or out? I reminded Jerry I have never had whitewall tires.
Asked if all were good...they have one more and the spare to get off...
Said I'd be in around noon.

Setting up the suspension rebuild today.
I love my almost old trucks.

A little something every chance we get.
:plane: Not a lot of motor excitement; spent the morning cutting and removing safety wires and cotter pins - well, got to do it at some point! And the afternoon removing 6 of the (I don't know 18 in all?) secondary exhaust extension tubes clamps. This was all done with 7/16" open end wrenches, of every variety I could find. You'd think if there was a special tool, we'd have it, but the 2800 seems to remain "special"!

That was so exciting, I thought I'd make a quick tour of all the radials for fun - Motor City! Free beer if you can identify them and the plane - unless you cheat and use the hidden notes!

I've been keeping too busy. Turned 65, my daughter is getting married, and time to downsize and move cross country.

@US Marine I'm a Parkinson's trivia machine. I have been living with Parkinson's way too long, but it comes down to three things:
    1. Exercise. Work up a sweat!
    2. Eat Sensibly. No processed food; the Mediterranean diet works best for me
    3. Sleep. Try to keep to a schedule, go to bed when you are tired, set an alarm for 8 AM, and do something. Avoid naps.
I've probably tried every medication for Parkinson's under the son. It's a matter of finding what works for you. Don't listen to anyone else's story, but write your own.

I was pretty pissed when I couldn't handle riding a bicycle. I did fine at speed, but starting and stopping with my arms shaking, I would crash. Well, it is time to Accept, Adapt, and Adjust. I'm still riding with friends.

I KNEW there was something I needed to do to with the insert, other than split some more wood! What did I do with that glass cleaner?

Thanks Tom! I knew you'd have some good input, and glad you're busily doing well!

    Yeah!! Finally!
New old wheels and tires. Just in time...

Talked to my mechanic buddy in Alb. and he's ready anytime.
New suspension parts and u-joints, brakes if needed. Bilstein 5100 shocks.
Make appointment with spring guy. Rebend and add leaf. Align. 2 month wait.

Had this truck 23 years now.
Can't afford new one . But I can have a better one finally.
The start of a total rebuild. Resto-mod?
    Hanks Tank?

All flat black and satsuma red.

New bumpers. Strip lights. Rocker guards.
Rebuild engine next year while it's good. All new everything.
I can afford this now and I'm not getting younger.

Love what you're doing! I never thought my 07 would get all the attention it is. 4'th owner on a 200K truck isn't all roses, but Little Big Red gets all the attention I can give it. Unless I am going to buy that classic 50's truck or something I am always thinking about, I can do a lot worse than what I got! You will enjoy every fixit step!

ps - I haven't heard of anyone getting springs bent since I was a teen! Good on you both!

Well, not that I had the sound on, but the Rockerfeller Tree deserved more time than the 60 seconds it got! We have drones now man!

:rain:Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Hoping for more rain than the 0.2" we got, but I think we just get grey and drizzle until afternoon. OK, was planning on getting the tree put up anyway.

    Afternoon all:

Well, we got our workout this morning, a buck bit the dust at 9:15, then the "FUN" started! First we had to get it across some rocks in the woods and then slightly uphill through the brush to the hiking path which was icy and is full of exposed roots and rocks and also slightly uphill, we took our time, but the two old geezers somehow managed to get er done!
Went to take a pic, of it and the camera battery was too low, have it on charge now, so hope I'll get to post tomorrow what's left of it!
My buddy got shots in his knees day before yesterday, I can only hope that he isn't going to be in any major pain after today.:(
We do use a deer buggy, but even with that it's still a lot of work and sure not getting any easier as the years go by!

Congrats on the deer. Looking forward to seeing pics. Being a member of the old geezers fraternity I know well the difficulty of getting a deer out. It’s the main reason I stopped hunting big game a few years ago. I can walk miles pheasant hunting but hauling a deer out of the steep, rugged high country is just a no go for me. I miss it.

Exciting afternoon of drizzle, cleaning fender flares, and throwing some paint on the lousy job Toyota did around the radiator. My job not better, but shiny! Truck will go to shop tomorrow, not Saturday, so I give him an extra day!

Oh, I did find replacement trim molding, so we will strip it off, and he won't have to mask it. Also, letting him paint the door handle covers, because why not. Just needs to mask the holes. If paint doesn't hold up, already have new ones.
