Oem stick on one's function well and blend in and go on easily. People also use clear ppf vinyl film for protection of you don't want to see anything but have protection.

I put these on my truck almost two years ago. The gray mountain ones fit the look of the truck and are extremely durable. I washed and cleaned the door sill with car wash soap, dried it, and cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol. I was also really meticulous about measuring the center point and lining it up because my OCD would be triggered if one was off or crooked

+1 for the Tuffskinz above, had them on my truck for over 3 years so far and they've been great. Seem a lot like upgraded grip tape and they give great traction if you worry about wet or dirty boots like I do.

My work truck has had the OEM Toyota sill guards on for 3 years too, and those have also been great. They're less expensive and a slicker surface material than Tuffkinz, so easier to clean off and the visual style is pretty neutral so I think they'll work with almost any setup.
