On the extra-cab side windows that open 1/8 of the way, turning into a full 90 degreed or more opening door so that we can access the back seat area without going thru the front door and sliding the seats up, that we all know has a defect that you have to pull the front bar up and the side lever since the cable breaks that hooks the two together(passenger side). thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-track-problem-ext-cab.433074/#post-16731933 .

Finally to the pics, These windows:
    rear window hatch2.jpg
I took the single screw out to see how far it would open, but the "hinges" are not really hinges. Stops here about 1/3 of the way.

The idea comes from these types of set ups,
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flATqEaN1GM&t=916s

I have some aluminum plate and we can get simple locking mechanisms at a lock smith same with some hinges from Lowes/HD but since the window is already there I thought I could use what is already in place and save money/time.
so knowing now the window hinge is unacceptable, parts needed:
hinges that can mount/modded to fit to OEM window openings
spacers to get window out of the inset lip, maybe 1/8" with washers.
    locking mechanism

If no one else has done anything close, Ill pull off the window and see what size hinges and locking mech will be required. *thinking of something like the fuel door hatch and latch*

Happy taco'en even if its not Tuesday. :tacoemoji

naw sorry guys, its on the back burner.
I added a fiberglass topper, so my tools are locked in there and easier to get from the back.
I still want to do it, just lower on the mod list.

A couple months late to the party, I knew someone had thought of this idea before me. The question is-- has anyone done this mod to their 1st gen?

Pretty sure that if you do this mod your Tacoma will start leaking oil from everywhere.

I'm trying to figure this out too - would be super helpful after doing a seat swap that doesn't allow much forward tilt of the seats.
