Just finished installing Wheeler's 1.5" Add-A-Leafs with a 3 degree shim on the rear of my 1999 PreRunner TRD. Over the summer, I've been slowly upgrading the suspension. When I bought it in April, it was running the original TRD springs and shocks that were well past worn out. Overall the ride has drastically improved from when I bought it. Initially, I was concerned about how the AALs would ride. However, I am glad to find some of the familiar road bumps are not so harsh since I installed the AALs. Handling is a bit more responsive compared to when I was running with only stock springs.

I see questions come up from PreRunner owners looking for examples of a "mild lift" from the stock suspension. Hopefully these pictures will answer questions about a "mild lift" upgrade from the stock PreRunner TRD suspension.

After OME 880 with Bilstein 5100 shocks on the bottom (0) lift position. The OME 880s provide a "mild lift" over stock for the lighter 2WD PreRunner.

    After installing Wheeler's 1.5" Add-A-Lift along with a 3 degree shim.

Now I have a slight rake on the rear that is closer to the original look when the truck was new.

Thats a good combo right there. Mine is more level with the 880's, but I guess thats due to me being a 4 cylinder vs your V6.

Nice setup. Will have to put the OME 880s on my list.

    the good ones
Replying to old thread but I'm looking at getting this exact setup (OME 880 + Bilstein 5100 all around + Icon 1.5" AAL) from Headstrong.

Did any of you have to drop your diff or install a brake proportioning valve extension bracket? I'm aiming to keep the lift under 2" which should be fine but I want to be sure I'm not stressing any other parts with this kit.

    4 run, 2 don't
At less than 2" I'd say you'd have good cv angles, so no diff drop.

Brake proportioning valve bracket I'd do just for the hell of it.

Don't bother with a kit, it's just a piece of steel with holes in it.

I'm trying to decide if I should go with the 880s now. My Toytec coils ride like a covered wagon, and with the stock UCAs it handles like one too. I was looking at the JBA UCAs, but I'm thinking I may just want to "downgrade" to the 880s to keep the stock look and avoid gong down the rabbit hole with upgrading the front end.

That's basically my setup. However, I did adjust the rear brake shoes and performed a series of lock-up skids to make sure it would brake in a straight line.
