Good luck! Don't forget to record it all. Hate for you to miss out on the views if you arc-y sparky something and zap yourself. :goingcrazy:

I guess either would work. Why would you suggest DD over BD?

For reference, if I get the S Ten, whatever it is would be mounted about here if I can get a set of altrider bars for it. I'd hang then low to really accent the triangle effect of the lights. Plan would be to wire it directly to the factory headlight switch. I don't like lots of excess switches to worry about.

So many topics to keep up with.
No shortage of liquor stores or bars in Colorado, one of each or more, on every block. Liquor sales stop at 2am and resume whenever the bars re-open, around 6-7am. So there is a small window for sleep.
Good wine and beer is now sold in grocery stores, before it was watered down beer and boxed wine only.
You will pump your own gas.
We have the same emissions laws as California since 2021. That's been fun to watch as everybody scrambles with their tuned ECU's to get it back to stock.
Now I think I need more lights on the bike. Thanks for that. :D
There is a blank switch knockout and a factory relay in place already, so might as well utilize it.

I need to remove the chain from my bike and give it a good, deep cleaning. Anyone got any good methods or how-to videos?

They have some cool little guys, stuff like this: https://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/Fuseboxes/PC-8R/PC-8R_PDM.html
This type of thing I feel like I could make pretty easily: https://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/Fuseboxes/3CS-HD/3cs-hd.html , but with separate fuse holders like @ridefreak posted earlier. I'm pretty sure I have a spare relay and harness laying around somewhere.

    Good find, thanks.

You should be able to sufficiently clean it while it's on the bike. How bad is it? Pics?

Weather after work yesterday was tolerable enough to wash the new to me bike. Took a few pics of it in better light, and in cleaner condition.

You can really see how much paint is missing on the side cover in this pic. After I was done cleaning it up I started really getting a closer look at a lot of it. That left footpeg rubber has a really odd wear pattern and the shifter peg rubber is paper thin. I'm starting to think the previous owner must have ridden all the time with his left foot forward and toes under the shifter damned near constantly and that might be why the paint is rubbed off like that. Replacement side cover from eBay should arrive today. I have an almost brand new footpeg rubber laying around from putting passenger footboards on my '14 and I replaced the shifter rubber on the '14 already so when I ordered it I ordered 2 of them meaning I have one of those in stock. Will swap those parts this weekend.

Doesn't show much in the picture but that stock windscreen is still covered in bug guts. I find myself wondering if the PO ever washed this bike. Windscreen has already been swapped out for a Cee Bailey screen I'd been using on the '14. I snagged an almost new Aeroflow screen off a forum member a few months ago to try so I had a spare aftermarket screen.

Need to order a set of reflective decals for the rear of the bags. Like these:

I have them on my 2014 and had them on the 2007. These are on a friend's bike. In daylight they look black with just some silver outline and logo but when headlights hit them from behind or even at an angle they really light up and help make me more visible.

Sargent seat that was on the bike when I picked it up. A little hard, not awful and better than the stock seat but not sure if I'm keeping this seat or putting it on a forum for sale.

Saddleman seat that came with it. Installed this one and sat on it but haven't ridden it yet. Like the look of it a lot better with the cut outs. It might end up for sale as well but I haven't made that determination yet.

Bike is a LOT cleaner than when I picked it up last Saturday but could still use some detailing. The panel right behind the front tire needs more work. PO must have ridden through some freshly applied Yellow line paint at some point and it has yellow specks all over it. Found a few loose fasteners and one screw under the seat is missing. Hoping to get some time with it this weekend and start installing some parts as they arrive. GPS mount, Clearwater Darla lights for on the front fender, and a RAM ball for my phone mount should all arrive by Saturday.

it’s the best when it’s the dead of winter and you don’t need to get out of the truck though.

Worst hing is that in NJ every gas station attendant seems to believe that ALL motorcycles require premium fuel. FJR runs on 87 octane all day long. Pump jockey initially refused to let me put in anything other than premium. I avoid buying gas in NJ unless my low fuel light has been on for at least 40 miles.

Looks good Chuck, detailing is the first thing I do when I get a new bike or vehicle. It's usually a pain in the ass because I'm finicky and keep my rides very clean.

And the motorcycle mailbox is great lol

    minor tweaks
Buy a chain brush. Hardly anybody removes their chain these days to clean it, depending on the bike many will require a chain breaker to take it off and on top of that it's a waste of effort, it can be cleaned on the bike easily, better IMO since it's held up in the air by the sprockets. When I wash the bike the chain gets cleaned and it only adds about 5min to the job.
