Mine started doing that a couple months ago. It hasn't spread too much but it's definitely coming off little by little.

Looks like the 24 tacomas are still going to have the 040 white paint code. Toyota must feel confident they finally fixed the problem.

Yeah, that will be interesting to see how that plays out. Unless they have changed the primer Process?

My 2019 Double Cab in Super White has this issue in multiple places. Dealer basically told me to pound sand.

What is the first digit of your VIN? 3=made in Mexico plant, 5=Texas plant. It seems that a higher percentage of failures, but not all, are from the Mexico plant. Letters have gone out to some owners about an official Toyota remedy. Based on early reports it seems like letters went out to Mexico made trucks. I did not get a letter and I have a Texas VIN.

Same here, when I took my '18 in about a year ago. Service adv. says "not covered, but I will contact Toyota and let you know their response"... Still waiting for the phone call. I did follow up a month after the original query and adv says " no response from Toyota, but they take time".

So I filed my own report with Toyota USA and received the notice last week that they are working on a solution for the 040 paint code and I am covered. You should follow up with Toyota USA

Mine is the infamous “3”. I posted the letter. I was going through stuff I’d thrown in my desk and found the letter from Toyota.

Hopeful that Toyota expands eligibility to at least 2.5 gen for this. My 2014 has all the classic peeling locations. :(

    This lol.

I'll see if I can call Toyota later this week to inquire about em but I'm not hopeful. Got peeling on my front hood edge, inner fenders, around all 4 door windows, front edge of the roof, edges of my gas tank panel, and at the base of my A pillars.

Interesting that they only did it for 3rd gens, as I'm sure plenty of us 2nd gen owners have opened claims for it. But maybe not.

Yep. I’ve got peeling in all of those exact places. The timeframes for this color having issues for other models begins during our generation, so I think it’s just a matter of people filing cases. I have already, granted that was before this letter came out for 3rd Gen owners.

I called Toyota this week for the second time. I have a 2015 with peeling white paint. My truck was made May 15th at the Mexico plant presumably months before the 2016s who are eligible for the recall. I just assumed this recall was going to be chronological but i guess I was wrong.

Isn’t that a 2nd gen in pic 2? Don’t 3rd gens come with a black wrap on the b pillar?

No, they only recently started that. Mines a 2020. Thought about adding the wrap on b-pillar to cover up peeling but it sounds like Toyota is going to fix it

Depends on the model I believe. My 2017 offroad came with the wrap.
