TLDR: Is there any reason to be worried about using a modern automatic transmission for kinetic rope recoveries, and is the HSA feature activating just an annoyance or a genuine concern?

    MORE:
I recently bought my first kinetic recovery rope to add to my growing pile of recovery kit. Having no actual stuck vehicles to rescue and not being stuck myself, I found a massive round concrete bridge pier to give it a few yanks and get a feel for it. For anyone concerned about "pulling down the bridge", uh... no. No way in hell. This was about 4-5' diameter concrete right around the base at ground level.

My truck is a 2020 AC TRD OR, automatic.

I was on a slight incline facing downhill. First thing I noticed is that when I bounced at the end of the rope, even a small amount of rebound would cause the "hill start assist" to activate because I was in drive with my foot off the accelerator and rolling backwards. My first thought was whether a prolonged recovery session might cause damage to the transmission with the associated roll-back. I've never seen anyone ask or mention it though. Second thought was "this is annoying and not useful - how do I turn it off". Alas, many have wondered the same thing and in my quick scanning I wasn't able to find a solution. (see links to related threads below).

I have a few ideas on how the truck might be tricked into disabling the HSA feature for this use, but I want to test it out before commenting on it.

Here are a few threads I found with people talking about rolling backwards the hill start assist feature. More to the point, how to disable it. I haven't read everything in these threads so feel free to berate me for duplicating content or not searching if that boosts your self confidence.
