    Hi everyone,

I’m in the middle of installing the RC car seat covers and had to remove the bolt that holds the belt for the middle seat. It started to strip and I need a new one.

    Here’s a picture:

Can anyone give me a hand with this? I’ll probably go tomorrow and buy the part from my dealership once I know the part.

I'd go to a fastener store if there is one in your area or even ACE hardware. Take that one for your sizing sample.

    A 9/16 socket? Isn't that a metric head?

It’s weird. It’s 14mm bolt but the thread pitch is SAE, 7/16-20 but the ones I found were not tappers.

The hole is a bit stripped so I wanted to make sure it will go in.

Most 14mm head bolts are m10x1.25?
    You sure it’s a 7/16-20? Doesn’t make sense.
Maybe it’s because you’ve pulled the thread out (stripped it) some?

I read in another thread that these bolts were that pitch because seatbelt standards? I tried 10x1.25 and it would go straight through not really grabbing and 10x1.5 way too thick

    Dang. You are right.
    I learned something new.

I’ll see if I can help find a part number.
Until then, maybe find a 7/16 UNF?

    7/16” UNF

The majority of all seat belt bolts are 7/16” UNF thread, in varying lengths depending upon the vehicle type. There is a metric fine pitch M11 size, but it is virtually impossible to obtain set bolts of this size without sourcing them from a main car dealer.

Seatbelts are almost always 7/16-20, extremely arely will you find anything else.

It's a law or something. Minimum size/pitch required.

I’ll swing by the dealership tomorrow and see if they have that.

you ever resolve this? turns out i did the exact same installing my clazzios... started to strip using a hand ratchet. went to ace to pick up M10 1.25 tap/bolts and those definitely aren't it. looks like its the 7/16-20NF i need? crazy that it could strip that easily...

Might be designed that way. Makes you replace with new anytime they are removed. Probably has a slightly different thread pitch tolerance compared the other bolts used on the Tacos.
    Just my guess.
Manufacturers of bolts and nuts use a thread guage with very specific tolerances and they will usually test a certain number of said bolts and nuts based on a QC # quality control. They will use a sample size or quantity to test say 50 out of every 500.
They will have a special set of nuts or bolts with different threads called go and no go. If the no go threads on the part is no good because it is out of spec. Sometimes they will make bolts or nuts with an interference fit, which is what I am guessing is the case here. The fit is so tight that removing the bolt alters the threads to the point it is useless. The bolt is softer than the nut so the bolt threads are the ones that become unusable. I used to be a quality control inspector for a machine shop with Government contracts for various things. Fasteners were one of the things I had to test.

Sorry for the late reply. It ended up being a 7/16-20NF bolt. I bought the 90105-A0100 part from my local dealer. I used a re tapping kit with the 7/16-20NF thread pitch and was able to install it again, very slowly making sure it caught good before sending it with the wrench.
