What have you climbed lately, BagelBoy? Heading up to the Valley this week to do a wall next to Washington Column that has a name that rhymes with “Bulging Puke.” Did some alpine stuff this summer, but didn’t bag any new summits.

Lost the use of some fingers on my left hand 20 years ago. Avatar is me on Half Dome in August of ‘85. That summer did Royal Arches(w/rotten log),Leaning Tower, Steck-Salathe on Sentinel, Washington’s Column and finishing up with RNWF. After WC we noticed the log had fallen which was about a week after we were on it. Is that Avalanche Gulch, Shasta?

I was definitely infected. Couldn’t think of anything better. Maybe “participate much?”

    ‘85! You’re an OG.

The shot featured is during a May ascent of Middle Palisade, an overlooked and sometimes sketchy 14er in the Eastern Sierra. Mostly fifth class, but the snow and ice makes things more involved Here are a few shots of the approach. The arrow is roughly where we took the picture.

I’ve been to Ediza and another loop past Catherine but that was all backpacking trips. I imagine yours was an incredible climb. That whole crest is amazing. Banner even though it’s a tad shorter than Ritter is one of the most imposing peaks around.

Edit-appologies, was obviously thinking Minarets instead of Palisades which are higher. Did all portions of the JMT but never in one go. That’s as close as I’ve been. I remember a whole lot of snow on Muir Pass in ‘82 after a huge winter.

It does works well, except for when the wind blows in the door slams into the fuel hose. Then the cap flies out of there retaining clip. When that happens, it doesn’t work so well. It will bounce off the paint harder than just letting it dangle.

    Maybe I’ll make a video of that……

    Gashole wins again.
