17016248787362365671484462911221.jpg I've got my interior tore apart. I figured this would be a good time to fix the retraction of my driver's seat belt. I noticed the yellow wire for airbag. Is it okay to undo that? Do I need to take any precautions?

    Disconnect battery?

I always disconnect the battery whenever I do any air bags work. Your seatbelt is tied into the airbag system. There is an explosive charge in the seatbelt retractor that tightens the belt when you have a collision. It's to keep your body from moving forward into the steering wheel air bag. It reduces the force of the air bags hitting your face.

In your case, it's not a big deal, but removing the negative battery cable isn't either.

Good luck on cleaning up the belt retractor. They always can use a good cleaning.

If you find out how to make belt ‘retraction’ stronger…..
    post your results!
All I could muster up is steam cleaning belt
    It helped, but not perfect

Yes i read that when doing research, not planning on steam cleaning. It just has alot of dirt in there , going to use alot of compressed air and maybe sum graphite. Thanks all !
