I need some help, I have a 2005 prerunner and 1 of my tag lights works when it wants to. I have changed the bulb 4 or 5 times and have even gotten a new wiring harness. But it still works when it wants to.

You using Led or oem bulbs? Cheapo led bulbs work when they want to.

I have those, I have upgraded every light on my truck. But the left tag light still works when it wants to. I can take my fist and beat on it. And then will come on for a few seconds and then pop right back off. And sometimes that doesn't even work. Everything about it is New, the right one works great. But the left does whatever it wants to do.

It may be bad. Or the company you’re getting it from suck.
I’ve replaced the interior replacement LEDs in my wife’s van 3 times. They failed everytime. Each batch they sent, the lights would fail after a day, or week. And flicker, or not be on.
Buy good stuff and be done

If that was the case, my dome lights wouldn't work, my map lights wouldn't work and the right tag light wouldn't work. Everything works but the left tag light, so it's not the company or the LED lights they sale. There has to be something wrong with the left tag light wires or something.

Do a sanity check and swap in a regular halogen bulb to see if the issue remains.

Sounds like a short somewhere if you can beat on it and the light will come on briefly.

Did you check the wires past the plug? I had similar issues and it ended up being a wire rubbing against metal and it was shorting. I soldered it back up, taped it and haven't had issues since. Also make sure you're putting dielectric grease in the plug before connecting your new lights. Corrosion will make it act funny.
