Hi, I upgraded my factory audio system with steering wheel switches out of a Toyota sienna van. The switches are plug and play with our factory head units. I was wondering if anyone had come across a single din Toyota am/fm cassette player that is compatible with the steering wheel controls? The steering wheel controls are a 2 wire system. I’ve tried several units, but haven’t had any luck with a single din. So far the only thing I have found out is if the volume knob turns continuously, the steering wheel controls will work. This is all on a non JBL setup. Any input would be awesome!
    Thanks!

The best advice I can give is either call Crutchfield or do a hunt and peck with a known vehicle that has steering wheel controls and see what pops up.

I have been wondering/searching for similar ‘stock radio swap’ options
    To no avail

    I do know this
    (And guessing similar with manufacturers)
    I’m big with Subaru
Currently, I have a 2008 double din stock unit in my 1998 (came with single din cassette)
    Plug and play(radio pigtail same)

Now cassette not important to me as well as steering wheel controls

can u confirm what yr sienna radio plugs into your 2004 pigtail?
    Thanx

I’m actually not sure about the year model sienna van that the steering wheel switches came from. The head unit is identical to my factory 04 head unit with the exception that the backlights are green. I changed all of my backlights to green years ago. I was not looking for this addition, I was wondering around in the salvage yard and happened to see it. I ended up buying the switches, clock spring, harness and radio just in case. To my surprise the switches worked fine with every radio I had. (All double din, volume knob moves continuously without stopping) There are 3 plugs on the back of the non jbl head units. 99% of the units I’ve seen seen in different models only use two of the plugs. There isn’t a third pigtail to plug into the remaining open plug. The steering wheel switches use this remaining plug and only two pins in it that are labeled tx+ and tx-. It’s the same open plug that accessories like a grom Bluetooth adapter adapter or aux input adapter use.
All of the head units have this third plug, and the pins are labeled the same, but I can’t find a single din radio to work with the switches, as the single din units often did use this plug to connect a cd player to the head unit.
    Thanks

This is what the back of the unit has to look like. Circled the plug that the steering wheel controls are wired in at.
Yes, I knew the dins were separate, but even a double din radio is wired this same way. This is where the add on cd player din is plugged into this unit.
