I agree, here in New Mexico for the most part we’re pretty rust free, my 09 and even my 1986 have no rust issues.

Agreed. I'm a bit south of OP in the North East, however my Tacoma was purchased in the nice open lands of Arizona. It had more sand/silt dust on the frame than rust. My tip (it's nothing special) @dzw0916 is to use search aggregators like AutoTrader, CarGurus, etc. and set all your configuration, price and location requirements to have a nice short list regularly hitting your inbox. Then hope you find a seller/salesperson that will crawl under and take some detailed photos to pass it onto the next round for a PPI or personal inspection (road trip baby).
