The Tacoma has sit for a while over a year and the battery went dead in it, after replacing the battery with a new one the radio was the first thing I noticed not working ( it had a blank display ) a couple days later I noticed when I went to set the cruise control it has no power. I checked fuses for the radio none blown, the cruise I haven’t found a bad fuse for it as of yet. I’m beginning to think the ECU? Everything else on the truck is working as it should. Any ideas anyone?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
My first thought is evil rodents chewing on wires.

Your going to need to look real close.

unless your ECU was under water or you gave it a voltage spike it should be fine .

Isn't the cruise circuit tied into the rear brake lights.....and possibly the trailer tie-in connector

Ok Bivouac the ECU should be ok then since hasn’t had a voltage spike or been under water.

O’Silver_Taco I’ll check the rear brake light wiring and I’m not sure if it has a towing trailer tie-in connector or not I’m thinking it doesn’t but I’ll make sure.
The brake lights and all other lights are working on the truck though. Only one tag illumination light is out.

I had a similar issue with my 1st gen. Wiring between/beneath the cab and the bed had abraded and was grounding out.
