The 2006 Access Cab I just bought had some pretty neglected black trim all around, but Turtle Wax Trim Restorer has done a fairly credible job of smartening it up. The remaining problem is the composite/plastic bed. I am concerned that using the Turtle Wax product or something similar will leave it too slippery to stand up safely in. A spray-in bed liner atop the composite/plastic surface seems a bit much for an 18 year old truck. Any suggestions? Or am I overthinking the problem?

Personally I wouldn't mess with it especially if you use the bed because it'll probably just get scratched up again.

Scratches, I’m not worried about. It’s a truck. But the now-grey black surface needs some sort of protection from the sun and I’d like it to be black, as originally designed.
